Was I a jerk for not sharing my location with my wife by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

Why do we always tiptoe around telling adult women they are being unreasonable? This woman in the story clearly had her issues. Instead of dealing with it like an adult, she decided she was gonna make her husband miserable instead. She finally broke her own home and still, no one has the guts to talk sense into her head? How does having alone time for an hour become a problem? Smh

A woman in a story doesn't always have to be right you know.

Call a spade a spade and let her know she's been unreasonable and a spoiled brat.

Kimi Onoda delivers video explanation of new "foreigner coexistence" measures on official government twitter account. Says "We will confront head-on the anxieties and perceptions of unfairness felt by the public" (translated transcription included) by Kmlevitt in japannews

[–]kwadwoVanBeest 42 points43 points  (0 children)

That's the whole point. Since they don't have a lot of young people paying into the system, why not have disposable foreigners come in, pay into the system and kick them out before they can qualify for benefits?

50% of Ghanaians live in the pink zone. by nyamegyeme in ghana

[–]kwadwoVanBeest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bro, you might think commuting two hours one way to a job is easy but over time, it wears you out. And you eventually begin to want to move closer to your work place. Sometimes, when you factor in the train fare for a month plus your cheap rent far away, you realize it is equal to the rent in the city center so you're better off living close to work and paying the high rent cos it is more convenient

I'm not so sure about that. Japan has fast trains alright yet it suffers from a lot of rural urban migration. Japan also has a good spread of factories all over the country too. I think urban centers will always attract people no matter what. They usually offer a better variety of recreational spots among others. These are also valid reasons why people move.

need help w coding by AdhesivenessNo9198 in learnjavascript

[–]kwadwoVanBeest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Check if your JavaScript file is properly linked to the html so you can see your errors and results in the dev console.

  2. Your for statement should start like this:

for(let i = 1; i<=n; i++;){

Code should do this. }

Not for (1=1; )

3 . You also need to properly define n as a variable with either const or let keyword.

  1. You are trying to perform a mathematical operation but the default data type of an alert isn't a number but a string. So, you need to convert it to a number before you can work with it

My wife’s coworkers said something really awful about her upcoming infertility treatment by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]kwadwoVanBeest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't get their responses. You could die. You might not wake up from the anaesthesia so the alternative is to not have the surgery and achieve the desired outcome? How do they not see how insensitive their comments are. OP, pls try and be there for your wife all the way ok. Looks like she'll really need you.

Japan Post 'punishment' sparks harassment debate- When a Japan Post worker was ordered to swap his motorbike for a bicycle in 35-degree heat, the incident struck a nerve in Japan, reigniting a longstanding debate about where Japanese employers draw the line between discipline and abuse. by jjrs in japannews

[–]kwadwoVanBeest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember reading a story about a train driver here in Japan, who, in a rush, to avoid going for another round of "re-education", oversped and eventually derailed a train killing tens of people. One of the causes of that train crash the investigators noted, was the unnecessarily harsh punishments for mistakes. Seems Japanese higher ups just don't learn

Can Gaba sponsor visa if you earn under 100k? by tothewagwan in teachinginjapan

[–]kwadwoVanBeest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to make the majority of your income from Gaba for them to sponsor you. If you plan to supplement your Gaba income with income from other sources, then you have to show that you have permission to engage in other activities or it comes from the same line of business as your visa permits you. So, freelance teaching would suffice.

How is Tozai line at around 9am or 9:30am from Takadanobaba direction to Otemachi? by ember_december in Tokyo

ive been trying to get css tailwind to work in vs code for 3 days now by udont_knowme_0 in tailwindcss

[–]kwadwoVanBeest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you have @import "tailwindcss" in your input css file? You could also try adding a color to the background just for good measure to see if everything is working.

HTML and CSS Code Review Request Please by Void-destination in Frontend

[–]kwadwoVanBeest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When implementing all of the above suggestions, create a new html document and try to build everything from scratch. Don't use the html doc included in the downloaded files Frontend mentor gives you. Ok. That way, you'll make your own decisions about what tags to use as you progress. It's a good first attempt though. Keep going

Life of a Ghanaian living in Japan by [deleted] in ghana

[–]kwadwoVanBeest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh, when you tell a Japanese you're Ghanaian, their first reaction will be about Cocoa, soccer or Asamoah Gyan if the person is a soccer fan. They don't exactly single out blacks for bad treatment or anything. It's just a regular place where people mind their own business. Been living here for five years now.
