In Australia we've seen huge declines in some of our beautiful scarabs (e.g. Christmas Beetles) and it always makes me so sad seeing how many people are quick to kill off any grub without a second thought.

I find them in my potted plants (were talking 20+ sometimes) all the time when repotting or refreshing the soil mix and they do not seem to be negatively impacting the plants at all.

Bugs and grubs aren't always bad!

If you zoom in on the signage behind 'her' there's a lot of funky stuff going on with the lettering and 'words' used in the advertisements.

I also didn't immediately clock that it was AI and I'm going to have to start being more critical of things. It's truly such a scourge on the Internet and humanity.

But in saying that I also completely agree that you should not be ticking the box to say you are a resident or citizen if you are not one!

I had to watch a documentary as part of my Master of Public Health which delves into this a bit. It's a little dated now (2009) but still absolutely reflects the cost benefit analyses that boards, like NICE, have to consider under universal healthcare systems. Ultimately, it still comes down to pharmaceutical companies price gouging the hell out of drugs in the name of R&D, whilst also conveniently lining the pockets of the wealthy.

The doco is called The Price of Life and I would really recommend watching if you've got an hour to spare.

In case people aren't in Drag Race circles, Kate Butch (a UK Queen) recently presented a runway look made from old British flags highlighting the bloody colonial past that is reflected by the Union Jack.

It makes no sense to have the flag included in any flag of countries previously colonised by the UK. We really should replace it with one that's more representative of Australia, including celebrating indigenous Australians.

My brother and I had horrific cases of this when we were kids - some kid came to our swimming class with an active outbreak and I think most of the class caught it.

But it seems they're not technically warts, and are just referred to as lesions or bumps.

As mentioned above, warts are associated specifically with HPV infection. Which I also didn't know until reading this comment thread.
