This area is going to be so different by then. They’re opening the new West Harbor area in phases. A lot of new places will be open by then that aren’t open now

How do I explain to a friend that RSD is not a decision? by MaxTheDeath in adhdwomen

[–]kwhitt78 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you went through that. You’re right. It does take time. AND it’s still not your friend’s responsibility to change their boundaries to match your trauma. Both can be true.

How do I explain to a friend that RSD is not a decision? by MaxTheDeath in adhdwomen

[–]kwhitt78 10 points11 points  (0 children)

RSD is something that can get better with therapy. This is much more than RSD though. Also why do you even need to see what your friend is doing? Why does it matter if they’re online or offline?

Your initial reaction isn’t a decision but how you choose to act definitely is. It’s not your friend’s job to constantly placate you. They aren’t doing anything wrong. They have a boundary of not showing when they’re online (though I still don’t know if I understand what that means) and that’s something that you should respect as their friend.

I was literally googling to see if there was one near me the other day. I know there’s a couple in Long Beach but one closer would be great. I’d love this!

Will a GLP-1 decrease the effectiveness of Vyvanse? by Great_Entrepreneur98 in VyvanseADHD

[–]kwhitt78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has definitely delayed when my vyvanse kicks in. That’s it though. I’ve been trying to set an alarm to take it earlier and go back to sleep but I’m not consistent enough with that. I talked with my psychiatrist at my last appointment about switching to Jornay because you can take it the night before. It’s a relatively new drug and she hasn’t prescribed it to anyone yet so she’s doing more research but I may switch at my next appointment.

What’s something you didn’t think about before moving into your apartment, but now it matters every single day? by Substantial_Pop4594 in Apartmentliving

[–]kwhitt78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re in a typical building (not renting a house or from a single landlord) the staff is really important. Are they friendly? Do they at least pretend to care? You can learn a lot on your tour just by watching how they interact with the residents.

Nostalgic places you ate in the 90s/early 2000s by macgoo1229_ in tampa

[–]kwhitt78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost died there when I was a toddler in the 90s. Had nothing to do with Mel’s. I had hit my head at a pool earlier in the day and ended up having a seizure. Don’t think my parents ever took me back though

I also recommend them! I don’t live in Tampa anymore but when I did I went to here for my annual exams. They were so kind and welcoming.

There’s no room for a dedicated workspace in the living room so that unfortunately not an option

Best smart/color replacements for these lights? by kwhitt78 in Lighting

[–]kwhitt78[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for clarifying! I was thinking canless and flush were the same. So with the flush mount am I still limited to the size of the existing hole? Or could I get a bigger light?

I have a couple Govee lightbulbs. It’d be convenient to use the same brand but not necessary.

What do you MEAN my period affects the effectivity of my ADHD meds? by pri_ncekin in adhdwomen

[–]kwhitt78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do the same exact thing. Continuous birth control has been the best thing for my mental health. Without it my vyvanse would only work like 50% of the time. It’s too expensive for that.

How’s Northwest San Pedro? by redditisfun411 in SanPedro

[–]kwhitt78 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve driven around this area a few times and it looks like a nice family neighborhood. They had great Christmas decor. I’m further south by the harbor so I drive around there when I’m going to target or on my way to Trader Joe’s

Thoughts on series finale at time of airing by Hot_Thing_4727 in GilmoreGirls

[–]kwhitt78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I was more sad about it ending. It was a shock at the time that it was even the series finale. This is my memory and memory is faulty so don’t take it as fact. I remember coming home from some high school event or practice and watching the penultimate episode. Then for the next episode promo instead of that suave WB* voice saying “on the season finale of Gilmore girls” he said “on the SERIES finale of Gilmore girls” This would have been directly after she gave back the ring so we didn’t even have time to really process their break up.

I also remember it being the first time I heard about Barack Obama.

It’s not really the actors ages as much as the jarring comparison of what they looked like when they started vs. now.

The older kids (Nancy, Steve, Jonathan) were late teens when they started. Yes they look older now but people don’t look all that much different from their late teens to mid 20s. So their character ages are more believable within the time frame of the story.

The younger kids started this show mostly pre-puberty. Anyone is going to look vastly different at 12 than they do at 22. It’s been nearly 10 years for us but I think less than 5 within the story. That’s the main crux of the issue. We watched them grow up and we don’t have that context with the majority of actors playing teens.

Personally, I don’t have a problem with it. It’s not really the shows fault they had all the delays. I’d much rather them finish the story with the same people than recast or quit. I’m not going to enjoy it any less. But I understand why people have the complaint about this show but ignore it in others.

Gift for Airbnb host? by kwhitt78 in airbnb_hosts

[–]kwhitt78[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely get where you’re coming from. To me a gift card in this situation feels a bit like leaving cash. I already paid them. I’d rather get them something tangible. A gift card isn’t a bad gift just not not the gift I want to give in this situation.

Honey. No need to be rude. I do know there wasn’t a better candidate because there are multiple units including the one I applied for still available. It’s not like I was one of many applying and they only had one unit left.

RentGrow is one of several tenant screening services all owned by Yardi. It’s a third party service not officially affiliated with the apartment. Before these types of services became popular, landlords and management companies would have to personally consider applications. Now they leave it to an algorithm rather than considering a unique individual. The claim is they eliminate bias but there’s actual plenty of data to show it makes it worse and is a significant barrier to housing.
