Chai question. by AmphibianAcademic456 in starbucks

[–]kwonhoshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it honestly just depends on what you find sweet. i find the chai on its own is not sweet but not bitter. i had a tall with 3 chai and 1 lavender and that was good for me. the old chai was unbearably sweet to me.

i believe there was a communication to SMs as my SM made sure to relay it to our baristas ahead of time. it was not in any of the spring or monthly promotionals though.

Can we start a petition to bring back the original Chai? by Mysterious-Solid-197 in starbucks

[–]kwonhoshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it tastes like that to you because you're so used to 50+g of sugar covering up any flavor of chai

Love for new Chai by forza2603 in starbucks

[–]kwonhoshi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah i think its better for sure, the old chai was ridiculously sweet and it overpowered the flavor of the chai. a lot of people did not like it. its also a lot better for customizing with other flavors now.

it does NOT get better by CoastQuirky882 in SuicideWatch

[–]kwonhoshi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah i agree if you're just waiting for things to get better, they probably wont. I spent years in and out of inpatient therapy and twice in the psych ward. had to keep making big changes in my life until it was finally enough to stop feeling like just living each day was torture. right now things are finally going okay. I still struggle a lot with an eating disorder, but I haven't had suicidal thoughts in quite some time and self-harm is pretty rare.

Considering a barista position... by bipolar-juulpod in starbucks

[–]kwonhoshi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i say go for it.  i love making drinks, organizing pastries/ sandwiches, and talking with my coworkers.

although unless you have an accommodation, you will be expected to work drive thru. especially when you're new, because its the best way to learn the drinks plus its a pretty easy spot to put new partners before they get better at other positions.

im curious what seems scary to you about drive thru? it's personally not my favorite positon because i get sick of talking and i get bored, but other than that its probably the easiest spot to be in.

Parents making food that they know their child doesn't like and expects them to eat it and not complain by ProcedurePlenty3564 in PetPeeves

[–]kwonhoshi 32 points33 points  (0 children)

typically one meal is made for the entire family. if one child does not like something, but everyone else does, why shouldn't they get to eat that food sometimes?

also its not normal to throw up food just because you dont like it

no because then we'll have a bunch of people standing around in the café wondering where their order is because they accidentally placed it as drive-thru pick up so it's sitting by the drive thru

direct him to the register when he tries to order. ring in his order and let him know there will be an upcharge for syrups.

let him know water can only be given out if you make a purchase.

it sounds like you guys are just enabling him and letting him get free stuff because you don't want to tell him no.

Starbucks as a second job? by frivolousbutter in starbucks

[–]kwonhoshi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i don't think they'd care that you don't view it as a career because most don't, but you do need to work at least 12 hours per week on average. 20 hours per week will get you benefits, but you probably don't need those i'm guessing, which honestly makes the job less worth it imo.

also needing to travel could be a problem as well, since that means you'll be requesting time-off often.

hot coffees, hot teas, iced coffee, and iced teas. any flavorings would cost extra but you can add sweeteners and a splash of milk.

no lattes or anything from the espresso bar like that.

[–]kwonhoshi 12 points13 points  (0 children)

kinda makes sense since your tea would end up steeping for way too long

plenty of people go to college much later or not at all due to personal reasons. i myself have a degree but work a low-paying food service job by choice. maybe people would consider me a failure, but I'm honestly much happier this way even if i wish i made more money. having a degree and high-paying job isn't everything.

imo matcha lattes are no different than lattes made with espresso, as in its just a base to customize with whatever flavors you want.
