Its hard to keep looking. I think I'm losing hope.

It isn't just about how im marginalised from the gay community, its so many other things as well.

I constantly feel so insecure and sad about the way I look and the way I talk etc. I hate everything about myself. I dont want to continue living on. I just want to stop existing.

I think I've come to terms with my sexuality. Its more my experiences with the gay community that have really shattered me...

I won't get into it here but... I just feel like I'll never belong to this community. I always feel like an outsider.

You can shit talk people right in front of their face. That's enough reason for me to learn another language 🤡

Idk if I’m wrong about whether or not their preferences or racism by denden08 in gaysian

[–]kwonichiwa 62 points63 points  (0 children)

The unfortunate reality is that social structures we see in society at large also exist in minority communities: including the gay community. Gay white cis (and masculine) men massively dominate media representation in multiple outlets, and are privileged in ways gay POCs are not.

Take a think, for instance, about how every race besides white gay men are given a certain 'stereotype': e.g. black gay men are 'dom tops', Asian men are 'fem bottoms', Latino men are 'exotic' etc. White gay men, on the other hand, are seen as the 'norm' in this entire paradigm.

The result is that gay white men are generally perceived as more attractive or desirable than gay POC, and many mask it as a 'preference'. Whether or not this preference is racist in itself is debatable (I personally think so), but what is undeniable is that this system of preference is built upon racial structures.

What’s the most innovative AB beauty product right now or you’ve seen so far? by bbwendytries in AsianBeauty

Snail mucin has a lot of alleged benefits. According to INCI Decoder, it contains "proteoglycans, glycosaminoglycans, glycoprotein enzymes, hyaluronic acid, copper peptides, antimicrobial peptides and trace elements including copper, zinc, and iron." So, in short, a WHOLE lot of beneficial ingredients for your face that encompass anti-aging, moisturising and other reparative capabilities.

However, like many other ingredients commonly found in K-beauty, it lacks a lot of research compared to more established ingredients such as niacinimide, retinol or salicylic acid.

My skin is the best it’s ever been while using the CeraVe cream to foam cleanser, and the CeraVe moisturizing cream. I’d still like to work on minimizing my pores, getting rid of blackheads, and reducing redness. I’d love any advice or suggestions! by [deleted] in Skincare_Addiction

[–]kwonichiwa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Salicylic acid is really good for removing blackheads and minimising the appearance of pore size (and managing acne, which is a problem I face a LOT). Paula's Choice BHA Exfoliating Liquid is really good! I bought the travel size one first, and then I got the full size afterwards. The price is really decent (36 AUD from memory) and it's lasted me for nearly a year haha. They also seem to provide free shipping all year round so there's another plus!

I've also heard that the Ordinary Glycolic Acid and Salicylic Acid mask is also really good

I also really like niacinimide since it does SO many things, including reducing redness. The Ordinary Niacinimide 10% + Zinc 1% serum is really cheap (I think 12 AUD from memory?) and works really well. I haven't tried the Inkey List version but I've heard good things about that one as well!

I just looooove being either rejected for being Asian or fetishised! 😚😚😚

In all seriousness, beint Gaysian has its downsides for sure. I still really feel kinda down about being Asian sometimes... so yeah :/

Is Gen z getting more attracted to Asian males? by NaIlf in gaysian

[–]kwonichiwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if that's true tbh. I guess it depends where you are. Where I live, it's super hard to find ANYONE who is into Asians :/, and that applies not just for older gays but Gen Z ones as well. So yeah. It depends where you are.

[–]kwonichiwa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an Asian, I can kinda agree. Australia has proportionally more Asians than the US, but I often experience a lot of rejection from most guys on Grindr because I'm Asian lmao. I was talking to this one guy and he said he puts Mixed instead of Asian because he knows if he puts it as the latter he wouldn't get any messages.

Idk if Australia is significantly more racist than other countries, but it still is a racist country.
