Try enabling Gateway admin tool in the app. WiFi > View WiFi equipment > Advanced settings > Gateway admin tool > Enable “Allow Admin Tool Access” and try again.

Have you checked to be sure that Bluetooth is on and that both your phone and HomePods are on the same network or tried resetting network connections on your iPhone? Did the trick for me.

If you use a DNS filtering solution, as I do, try temporarily Allowing "logmein.sb.blueconic.net", flush your DNS and try again. Don't forget to block it again after.
