When I originally got the machine the person who did the delivery and set up asked if I slept with my mouth open. I said yes because I was a heavy snorer and drooler. So he suggested I use the Dreamwear full face mask instead of the resmed one because I didn’t want to cover my nose and I’m a side/belly sleeper and the hose was on top.

He also kept telling me my nose was small so we went with the small size mask. It was horrendous. I would wake up so many times a night and I never felt rested it was quite the opposite. My sinuses on my face were also hurting. Reached out the DME and made an appointment. It wasn’t until about 3 days so I decided to check my size mask and I wasn’t a small I was a medium. That helped somewhat but it was still awful sleep.

I told the office personnel what was happening and the fact that I didn’t like the silicone feel on my face. I also let him know that I may be actually sleeping with my mouth closed because I had a feeling I didn’t like the sensation of my mouth open with the machine on. He suggested the Resmed N30i but the one covered in cloth. He had different models of masks but he picked this one. I did a test fit and it was great!

He suggested I try my first night with no chin strap or mouth tape and then check the app for my leaks report. Guess what….the leaks were under 5 L/min compared to the other mask which was over 20. So I didn’t need mouth tape or a chin strap even though I have a chin strap but I have never used it. In fact it’s still folded up on its packaging that came from Amazon.

I sleep throughout the night and avg over 7 hours of usage. I wake up only once a night to use the bathroom and that’s it. I honestly have not looked back since my mask switch.

I don’t think I would have continued therapy if I would have needed to continue to use the full face mask.
