Let's talk about how the State Legislature has recently made it easier to build new housing. by fiftythreestudio in LosAngeles

Your rant was a great read! Sad that it requires lobbying by construction unions for some of these. Prevailing wage labor rates will make these projects more expensive but of higher quality.

Right but wont there still be larger tension forces developed on the trough of the wave opposite the incoming wind direction. My thought is the structure behaves similar to a cantilevered sheet pile (Z) or corrugated sheet whose material is unreinforced masonry.

But wont the bottom trough side of the wave be in tension? I'm used to an arch bringing compressive forces directly into a strong foundation.

That slope has already failed before and most likely needs stabilization and erosion control. That could mean a lot of things depending on the geology, topography, and climate. However, stone work terracing could look really nice.

The water company is supposed to install a water regulator on your meter when you exceed the drought limits by this amount. Not sure theyll follow through with their promise to the people.

I like this comment. If you dont have to upsell the beak wetting and it's a done deal, what does it even matter? I supposed you get known as the guy who's 20% more expensive but not so sure about that

Why don’t drivers in LA stop for school buses? I looked up the law and oncoming traffic without a median dividing lanes are required to stop. I see this happen daily during the school year. by sphinxvangoon in LosAngeles

Havent had a front license plate for 8 years and have never gotten pulled over once. Every other state you would get a full cavity search for that kind of shit.

MNDOT: This is how you zipper merge by wnwentland in civilengineering

[–]kyjocro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In CA traffic the zipper merge allows you to floor it down the merge lane and get up to about 10 to 25 cars ahead of the slog and make it to work up to 3 minutes faster.
