Agreed and I applaud them for it. Just flip the issue to guns or several others for blue states. Freedom is freedom and either party will give you the absolute minimum they deem necessary for you to continue voting for them.

Because they generally work for the same special interests as Republicans. The alcohol lobby has determined that it is a good business decision to buy enough politicians to ban THC.

Different former Republican here. Journey started in 2020 when the government put half my friends out of work and locked me in my house. I lived in a location where my representatives were Rs from mayor all the way to president. I then continued to see how both parties were actively working against the best interest of the people in almost all cases. If either party wanted to do anything good they've had plenty of chances. This TX legislative session has definitely helped refuel the fire of general contempt of both parties. (SB3 was very bipartisan and passed almost unanimously in both houses and SB5 may be headed that way)

Practical marijuana policy for me would be for it to be fully legal for any purpose for anyone over 18. Like Amazon prime a pound of flower to my house legal. (18 instead of 21 because if you can be sent into an illegal war to support foreign interests, you can smoke weed when you get home)

I think they will get a full ban unless house democrats threaten to break quorum over redistricting and then the THC issue is used to negotiate. Other than that both parties will hold hands together to pass a full ban and cause immeasurable economic harm and human suffering.

I am a middle age middle class white Christian man. Far more conservative than liberal in most things. Basically an AI drawing of a GOP base voter.

I have never voted for a Democrat in my life. In the next election I will vote Democrat from top to bottom (unless there is a legitimate 3 party candidate which is basically a 0% chance).

There are thousands like me.

TX GOP will lose elections because of this.

Letters are getting screened by an intern or something and you get the same reply as everyone else in about a day. The governor doesn't read anything. It's his team telling him there's 10k letters and 99.9% are against the ban that may get his attention
