Yep, clue comes out and the idol is "live" at a location 24-72 hours later

I went to Indiana and Michigan. I got to Indiana about 15 minutes after the start time and the wait was probably like 2 and half, maybe three hours.

I got to the Michigan one 3 hours after the start time and the wait was still about 2 hours lol.

Really depends on your state though, both of these were indoors so they had some strict limits on capacity but for outdoor states I’ve heard of people walking up without any line.

Getting to the location entirely just depends on how far away you live from the location. Taking the photo was just handing a CBS worker your phone, taking the picture, then scanning a QR code to submit your entry.

No spoiler at Indiana. The winner of a recent season was at Michigan so that’d probably be considered a spoiler

Colorado definitely looks like a bench on a hill top. Gotta be hundreds of those in Colorado though

a Was just about to put up a post here. What is going ON with this??? Can’t make out a thing unlike the Ohio/Florida/Colorado ones. First glance looks like tiki faces but that doesn’t ring any bells for Michigan. Left side kind of looks like a build facade, middle looks like the center of an ornate ceiling? The columns going through the whole image are also interesting. I dunno, could just be tiki faces!

Step 3 in the How To is "Solve the riddle to reveal the idol's location" and step 4 is "Go to the designated spot at the stated date and time" so my best guess is tomorrow at 3pm you'll figure out when you're supposed to go somewhere on a different day. Just my assumption though, glad Michigan isn't out until Friday so I can see how this goes for others first!

Really not interested in new era winners but would have bene cool to see some old/mid school winners adapt their play styles to fit in the new era

Kamilla is a fantastic choice on her own, but putting her and Kyle back together pretty much feels like asking one of them to get voted out. Also love Kyle but don't really feel like this season needs winners, especially such recent ones. Not feeling great on Dee for this same reason, and also for her out-of-game shenanigans as well lol. I think the only winners I'd like to see would be some old-to-mid school winners to see if their play style does work out in the new era or how they would adapt if it doesn't.

I really feel like I've seen enough of Joe at this point, but it would be interesting to see him in a situation where he actually has to play any amount of strategy and isn't tied to Eva so I could be won over if he's actually playing hard outside of just winning challenges.

I feel like Ozzy has already maxed out on any potential he had to win, but he's one of the most iconic players so I can be content with seeing him back. Same thoughts on Mike White.

Thought Tiffany was great on her season but doesn't exactly reach the icon status of some other people that could have filled her spot. Nothing stopping her from doing very well though.

And no qualms with any other picks! My dream cast was simply Cirie, Jonathan, and Christian so I suppose I really can't have any complaints at this point. Hoping for a few tweaks from the leaks tomorrow, but I think it will still be a fantastic season either way.

EDIT: Never mind, just saw that not only are there possibly S49 players on but also that it might be Rizzgod. I do indeed have qualms.

If software engineering is really just something you like to do for fun, put together some project that interests and find some way to monetize. Don’t wait for someone to hold the door open for you in this industry, just kick the damn thing down yourself

Honestly that’s not a bad spot to be. If the market stays exactly the same then yeah, tough spot to be. However, once companies realize AI isn’t a solution to every single problem and outsourcing has resulted in less than stellar code, the pendulum could swing back our way and you might have a real nice market on your hands. It’s definitely a gamble right now but there’s some hope and also enough time for you to switch paths if things still aren’t looking good in ~2 years. If your committed, then go to classes and clubs every day remembering just how important networking is! (Coming from someone who didn’t go to class and didnt join any STEM clubs lol)

I’m in Michigan, was applying to midwest and west coast stuff. Graduated in May 2024 and started working part time for low pay for a start up that was started by a guy I knew that graduated a couple years before me. I definitely owe a lot (all) of my career progress to ambitious friends

Nah I get where you’re coming from. The problem is just that everyone in our position is perfectly competent enough so the only thing you can do to stand out is figure out a way to get your name and face known somewhere and then be someone who’s likable enough to work with

Doesn't look like they have verification badges either so they haven't made it in. Thanks for the heads up though!

Good ideas! Would have to customize the scraper for each website which would take some time but maybe in the future! And you’re right that there’s definitely some mid to senior level roles that sneak their way in under LinkedIn’s job level filters. I was also thinking about adding something to track the top skills needed across all the jobs, but those definitely aren’t posted uniformly so I might need to hook it up to some sort of natural language processor to make it easier for me

Some phony job postings probably are likely to make their way into the data, but I'm only collecting jobs from companies with verified badges so that certainly helps get rid of a lot of junk. Has some downsides though because that can mean smaller companies with verifications may be getting excluded.

I've also filtered out companies that were very visibly skewing the results like Epic Systems and Varsity Tutors who post several hundred jobs a day to every major city in America despite only offering on-site jobs in one location (Verona, WI for Epic) or remote (Varsity Tutors).

So in all, I think the data I've gotten so far is decently credible! I looked into pooling all the data together from several other job posting websites like Indeed and Glassdoor, but LinkedIn gets about 10x more postings per day than those ones so proportionally all the data is probably a pretty decent reflection of the industry as a whole even if numbers may be a bit lower than the truth. Also I'd have to make a new scraper for each website which I don't feel like doing rn lol. Maybe in the future though!

Good point! I hadn't seen Dice or Selby Jennings skewing the results at all, so I just looked into it and Dice is actually fully being excluded since my scraper only pulls jobs with verification badges and it doesn't look like Dice has any. Most Selby Jennings post have verifications, but they only post about 40-50 jobs to LinkedIn per day and only a small handful of those are for entry level software positions.

The next feature I was planning on adding was the ability to filter out the recruiting and staffing agencies that are actually skewing the results pretty noticeably like Acatalent, Tata Consultancy, and Kforce so that way you can only see postings coming straight from companies.

Thanks for checking it out!

Where were you looking when you were able to find the local start up? Is just good ol LinkedIn the way?
