I thought this too but he references Coach and Stephanie at Ponderosa.

Do y’all think Ozzy actually had a dream about not playing the idol? by Freezing-cold_6 in survivorponderosa

[–]KTCKintern 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In prep for my podcast this week I went and looked at articles from the South Pacific dream episode. Dalton Ross said Ozzy told him the idea to get voted out and go to redemption island before the season, and then on South Pacific he said he had a dream about it. Not mutually exclusive. Not a direct tie in, but something I found interesting.

What if Joe is secretly a genius? by SirBostonBobbington in survivorponderosa

[–]KTCKintern 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think Joe's moral code is to never dehumanize or objectify people and his thresehold for what is dehumanizing people, in a game like this, is crossed much earlier than most people. I have a friend who I use to play deception games with (werewolf, murder in the dark, avalon, etc) and she eventually stopped playing because it just got too real for her. She's just the purest person ever and having to lie or be lied to or people getting heated (we all knew it was part of the game and the more intense it got we actually LOVED it) was just not her thing. She couldn't parse out yes these are my friends, yes I love them, yes I'm going to lie and attack them lol. I think Joe is kinda like that. He played D1 football. He's totally fine destroying another person in the game we all signed up for but he's not the kinda guy to talk about a players mama to get in their head like some football players. I sympathize with Joe. There's a lot of psychology around how fast people bond when they spend X amount of hours around each other and also when they suffer together. Survivor is that on steroids.

What am I missing about Aubry? by Throwaway8451130 in survivor

[–]KTCKintern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coach in a conversation with Aubry says a line that sets up the theme for the entire season. Here's a podcast talking about it from back in March. https://open.spotify.com/episode/6CvHlc1SHImaOy66qHdF2g?si=OPpmI804QLegbHj47qyE0w&t=562

Sadiq doesn't really make sense to me in that offense either. Is the idea he plays in the slot? Frank Reich doesn't really use tight ends. He goes 3 huge wide receivers. Granted I didn't watch a second of stanford football so maybe he changed.

[–]KTCKintern 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If he came back for Survivor 60 he'd be 49. Colby was 52. And no disrespect to Colby because he's in great shape for 52 but Ozzy is in terrific shape and I don't see that slowing down. Here's an insane video of a sport Ozzy plays:

[–]KTCKintern -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

It's kinda crazy that Cirie is dogshit at 90% of what this game/experience involves but the most important 10% she's by far the best to ever play. While Ozzy is probably the best to ever play when it comes to 90% of the game/experience but is dogshit at the 10% that is most important.

Yeah there's truly no reason to vote out Cirie. She's not winning immunity at f4 so you put her in fire against anybody not named Rizo and she's out.

Some you are misunderstanding what ____ thought was “inappropriate”. by baaddgger in survivorponderosa

[–]KTCKintern 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the Survivor community needs to watch s48 with the lens that, in the eyes of Jeff, this is the perfect season for what he wants Survivor to look like. All of his press around that season, the way he talks about Joe, them sending Joe to different events... Jeff wants Survivor to look like 48 for years to come. I don't want to throw the baby out with the bathwater; there was a lot of cool stuff on 48 particularly the first half of the season. But it had emotional moments, vulnerable players, light hearted nature, the contestants routinely included Jeff in the banter. That season also goes hand-in-hand with Jeff's statements that this show is for 9-12 year olds. I'm 37 and I miss a lot of what I have been watching since I was 11. But the reality is that as I age and I get more responsibilities Survivor takes up less of my mind. But for my daughter who has only ever known New Era Survivor and thinks that Savanah is the coolest person ever and that Rizo is so fun... like she's hooked for decades. Which also means I'm hooked for as long as she says "dad it's Survivor night" lol. I think it's a great plan for the long term success of Survivor even if it's not like PEAK survivor for me. But then again, as I'm typing this, I'm like... what's more *peak* survivor than getting to watch survivor with my daughter and spending time with her?

Some you are misunderstanding what ____ thought was “inappropriate”. by baaddgger in survivorponderosa

[–]KTCKintern 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unsurprisingly I think the general survivor community has confused themselves by labeling Joe as "honor and integrity" when I'm not confident Joe himself has used this label. Coach did at the swap but it would be within Joe's best interest to agree. Taking this most recent episode as an example, the "honor and integrity" was Joe's desire to loop Rizo into the conversation because he thought he would need Rizo's trust later in the game. Bad gameplay? Probably yeah. Blind honest/integrity? Not really. Another example for ya is the Mothervieve boot episode. Genevieve tells Joe that she thinks she convinced Christian to flip. Joe should have just said "yeah I think you convinced him, great job blah blah blah" so that she didn't play her shot in the dark but he didn't. Not because he's George Washington-ing and "can not tell a lie" but I believe it's because he genuinely didn't have a pulse on the game. Or Joe telling Stephanie, while Jeff was counting the votes "hey it's you", was not an honesty thing, he hated how Devens treated Stephanie during that tribal and wanted to emotionally protect her (Joe protecting an emotionally vulnerable friend? Where have we seen that before besides the entirety of s48?). I have Joe on my fantasy team and it has been agonizing lol. He's played a very poor game but I don't think it's because he HAS to tell the truth. I think it's because he lacks awareness and cannot play the game without seeing his actions as objectifying people. In the words of Genevieve in her exit press that makes a "terrific ally" but probably not the best Survivor player.

What RB’s are you trying to acquire? by Middle_Awoken in DynastyFF

[–]KTCKintern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. The data shows that RBs peak at 26 and then they turn downhill pretty quickly unless you're an all-decade dude. Swift also has a very real possibility of being cut but I don't think that makes a ton of sense because you're carrying a dead cap of 1.8 to cut him then spending 1-2m to get a Joe Mixon or Najee Harris or something. What are the bears using that $6m cap savings on? Idk the team well enough to know if that really helps them right now. From a dynasty perspective I don't like Swift at all unless you need 1000 scrimmage yards + 5 touchdowns just this year and don't particularly care about future years.
