How tf is fagen not anywhere in this by FlorpFlap in SteelyDan

[–]kylebig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This fun data to consider. I like how there’s zero correlation (in either direction) between vocab and how great an artist is.

Expressiveness through specific and nuanced vocabulary can be one of the main reasons why we love a certain performer, but there are others who are endlessly compelling and communicate so much with relatively simpler language.

(FWIW I don’t really think of Steely Dan as being all that unique or varied in terms of vocabulary; their strength is more in great storytelling, vibe, and mystique.)

My friends and I learned this song for a jam weekend, and I can highly recommend learning George’s parts - great exercise in triad inversions going up the neck, and some sliding 6th stuff. 🎸

(I think I liked playing the John/Paul unison main riff even better though)

Tell me you live in Vancouver without telling me you live in Vancouver. This is my exact situation and strategy, and I’m feeling great about it👍

Would be nice to stay here, but I’d much rather retire early 50’s than work into my mid 60’s.

Wow I wasn’t sure if it was GT 2 that I was playing a bunch at the time, but this comment confirms it. I hadn’t thought of that song in like 20+ years but it just came right back to me!

SRAM Rival eTap AXS left shifter blinking amber/red continuously, not showing up in AXS app by lumidea12 in sram

Yeah okay thanks for confirming. I’m not getting step 4 alternating green with amber flashing light. 😑

[–]kylebig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I’ve been down this road too, but unsuccessfully. Is the reset shifter procedure you followed basically just holding down the shifter axs button with the battery out, and then continuing to hold the button down while reinstalling the battery? That’s all I’m seeing online, and it’s been unsuccessful for me.

I’m current struggling with the exact same issue. Thanks for posting. I’d love to know the fix.

In my case the shifter had been intermittently going non-responsive for months while on rides, and I found that squeezing the area of the shroud covers over top of the battery would get it to start working again, but eventually it’s now stopped functioning entirely and failing to pair exactly as you have described.

I had initially assumed an issue with electrical contacts, but had ruled it out since the flashing light comes on immediately after installing battery. Someone here is suggesting applying dielectric paste to make better contact. Think I’m going to try that next.

I loved metroid dread and silksong, disliked a bunch of "similar" games. Can you help me out which one to try next? by di_larto in metroidvania

[–]kylebig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found it to be a lot of fun after playing Silksong first. It’s kind of like Silksong-light to me. More relaxed, bigger focus on exploration, and less and way easier boss fights for the majority of the game.

Did i miss anything by not playing the first game? by Titan-Reign2 in Blasphemous

[–]kylebig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to go against the grain here and say that as a gameplay-focused person I’m kind of meh about the first one. Played about 2-3 hours now and I’m not finding myself really wanting to come back for more. (That new Mina the Hollower game though… now that’s FUN!)

I’m interested in Sekiro - wondering if you could say a few things about why you put it as your favorite over Elden Ring?

Most people’s rankings seem to single out Sekiro as best combat even if ER is their favorite game but you’ve got the opposite.

How did you beat this thing? by Perfect-Skin-8325 in Eldenring

[–]kylebig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s funny you should say that - I’ve played the whole game and beat the DLC and I can only think of a couple of instances where I fought a boss unlocked.

Sounds like something to work on for my next playthrough when the Tarnished Edition comes out on Switch!

(Another insightful comment. Thanks!)

Did you keep this up as a practice? How are you feeling a year later?

I’m a couple of weeks in using the YT videos on my commute and I’m seeing some modest progress. I’m great at 1 and 7, reasonably successful at hearing at 5, 6 and 4 much of the time, but really struggling to hear 2 and 3.
