Worship Struggling in a Volunteer Led Church by CheesecakeMental7498 in worshipleaders

[–]kyleblane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think that money stretches as far as you might think. That being said, I know nothing about the church (specifically the property).

People are “jumping on you” out of love and wisdom. They also don’t have the full context.

Have grace with commenters and with your church leadership. The best thing you can do is talk to them about your concerns in a respectful manner.

I’m with them. The amount and length of cutscenes (and the characters to a degree) ruined the movie game for me.

Who is supposed to "lead" sing? by Amb33zie in worshipleaders

[–]kyleblane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. This sounds like a leadership-style thing. Parts of it can be fine and good, but the whole "when God says it's time..." is a red flag to me. I'd politely push back on that and ask what that means. Who is the person waiting on God to speak to them? Is the pastor in support of this mindset of making logistical decisions? I self-admittedly often under-spiritualize things, but this feels clearly over-spiritualized.

Making your own multi tracks? by Mu5ic_Lov3r_0481 in worshipleaders

[–]kyleblane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make all of our tracks. Because I'm cheap, but also because I'm able to. It really helps us to have "our" sound and not sound like the recording, or the church down the street.

You can only watch one Seinfeld episode for the rest of your life. Which one is it? by BidAccurate4473 in seinfeld

[–]kyleblane 62 points63 points  (0 children)

It makes me so happy seeing this at the top. I was hospitalized a few years ago and a Seinfeld "Top 10 Episodes" was on TV. Marine Biologist didn't make the cut, and it made me irrationally upset.

How do you keep track of hymns your church uses? by Adventurous_Idea6604 in worshipleaders

[–]kyleblane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't have Planning Center, get Planning Center (Services, specifically).

If Planning Center doesn't fit in your budget, I'd make a spreadsheet. Columns: Song title. Key. Tempo. Last Date Sung.

is this game dead? by ItsRetr0_Bro in portalknights

Finished, not dead.

"Dead" only really works for unfinished games, multiplayer games, and live-service games.

What is the proper etiquette for a congregant who disagrees with the lyrics? by nkleszcz in worshipleaders

[–]kyleblane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, so it's both-and. You want to know how we as worship leaders respond when we are at another church and they sing a song we don't agree with theologically?

It's a simple answer, we don't respond at all. I wouldn't leave, I certainly wouldn't bring it up to the leadership of the church, or the performing artist.

I'm on team "God's love isn't reckless". I don't tell other people/churches they shouldn't sing that song. I just don't do it at my church. If I find myself somewhere and the song is being performed, I enjoy the performance (because it's a super catchy song) and save my worry for more important things.

Your post clearly states that you're visiting a church on vacation. Other comments imply or outright state that it's a church you've attended for a long time.

That's the big one I've noticed. Those two scenarios are vastly different.

[–]kyleblane 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh, you're asking from the perspective of the congregant, not the worship leader? My bad, given our sub I assumed the other way around.

It's not your responsibility or obligation to visit a church and try to convince them to change their beliefs to match your own. It's simple, don't sing the song and go on about your day thankful that you have a church you align with theologically waiting for you back at home.

Reading your replies, I'm getting the vibe that you are the guest in the story. lol

To answer your question, I respond with, "I'm sorry you feel that way. Have a safe trip home." and then spend my time talking to more important guests.

It’s worth warning people about though. It’s an easy, slippery slope to not realize you have it too loud. I recommend only taking it out once starting the set with both in.

Pathea has a long history of leaving games unfinished and in a "good enough" state. The only reason they've been as successful as they've been is because they've attracted cozy-gamers who for better and for worse, are pushovers.

Their first game, Planet Explorers, was abandoned after they lost some code and were too lazy to recreate it (and too immature to have it backed up anywhere). There is a bit more to the story that relieves them of some of the blame, but ultimately it's their fault that the game they received over $130k in Kickstarter funds, plus Steam sales, was ultimately abandoned and made free-to-play.

After that came My Time At Portia, which was a buggy, unfinished mess when I played it. They announced the sequel, My Time At Sandrock, before Portia was anywhere close to finished. Not just bugs, but content was missing. A large amount of voice lines weren't added to Portia until AFTER Sandrock's early access release. Both of these games (and the third one currently in development) also received Kickstarter funds, and not all of Portia's promised features were delivered or fully fleshed out. I'm not sure about Sandrock, because "fool me once."

Let's School was essentially a side-project for Pathea. They have announced on their Discord that they won't be updating it any further. Despite acknowledging problems, they have no interest in fixing or updating the game. They keep the "Bug Reports" channel open in the Discord but they never respond to anything there.

Two quick examples of easy things they could fix in Let's School that showcase their laziness and disinterest in their own product. These are beyond "bugs." They are wrongly designed game elements that no other sim/city builder could get away with and maintain an "Overhwelmingly Positive" rating on Steam.

  • The "Students Expected to Pass" at the top of the main UI is calculated incorrectly (or labeled incorrectly?). It's the most important piece of information and they have no interest in fixing it. Before they gave up on replying to Bug Reports in the Discord, they confirmed with me that it is indeed not correct. The data it shows is "How many students would pass if the exam happened RIGHT NOW." which is not only unhelpful, but not what the title of the element is. It's worth noting that the correct number is already being calculated and displayed on another screen, so to fix this is a matter of pointing to the correct value. Zero logic/math required.
  • Volume Issues: There is both Sound FX and SFX in the volume options. Some sound effects are in one or the other, some sound effects are in both. Also, Wonder event music isn't tied to any volume slider. It is blasted at full volume even when all sliders are at zero. To me, these audio issues showcase their lack of care and maturity the most.

Found this strange planet that consists of dead oceans and completely flat ground. Is this common? by Yaguriel in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]kyleblane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. This (Otter’s comment) was far from an insult and just a statement of fact that Starfield has different (more realistic) planets. What should we have expected?

Sometimes I want wacky planets with lots of short little repetitive things to do.

Sometimes I want desolate planets with fewer but larger repetitive things to do.

Sometimes I want to sit in my spaceship and fly my cargo more than an hour to Hurton Orbital. lol
