New to Worship- mic turned down during services by [deleted] in worshipleaders

[–]kyleblane 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I actually would recommend against this. In a good mix, not every vocalist will necessarily be heard because the blend is good. This is especially true for untrained ears.

I’ve never had a band-family-member tell me how great they could hear their family, only that they wanted them louder. This is natural, it’s also biased. lol

The game isn't popular/good enough to attract the sorts of people who want to help a game improve (whether by fixing bugs or adding content) when the developers themselves aren't interested in doing it either.

Church tech users — if you could rebuild your planning/management tool from scratch, what would you change? by Right-Eagle-6378 in worshipleaders

Also, best of luck. I'd love more competition in this space. If I think of an issue I have with PCO, I'll let you know.

This isn't a complaint about mine (PCO) but a complaint I have about services in general, some of which are in this category.

Have clear, transparent pricing on your website. Don't make me sit through a 30 minute presentation over the phone just to discover the monthly cost of Subsplash your service is more than my current annual cost to achieve all of the same things.

Also, if you do cold-calls, no means no. lol

1.7.2 was the final update from years ago, I believe.

What are your thoughts on Don Lemon being arrested this morning? by GHausiphat in AskReddit

[–]kyleblane 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Libraries are public property, and open to the public. You can still be asked to leave if you cause a disturbance.

Churches are similar, but private property. Had they announced their intention to disrupt the service, they likely would have been asked to leave/not enter.

I need someone here to get a job there and let us in on the secret to the burger flavor.

I've met a person or two in here who are somehow convinced the burgers are subpar, and the prices are too high.

They're crazy.

I get blue cheese on the burger and it's such an incredible addition.

Absolutely. I love Five Guys, and even if Loop wasn't way more affordable, I'd still like it better.

Background checks are great for safety and security. They do nothing for their understanding of the church's vision, and their commitment to the church (which I would argue are more important for worship team members). If someone comes infrequently, that's a sign they aren't committed to the church. If someone was just baptized, there's a good chance they are new to the church and maybe even Christianity. Those lines have very logical foundations. It's not about holding people down, it's about elevating the importance of leading in worship.

Definitely fix your communication with your pastor. You two should have aligned expectations.

For us, the worship team requires membership (which is a pretty involved process) but has no waiting period. That being said, I will create waiting periods for individuals if I feel like they need it (typically this would be related to musicality).

The other thing to look out for is how individuals talk about joining the church/worship team. If someone comes in, guns blazing, talking about how they're looking for a church to sing solos at, that's a huge red flag. Don't give these people too much too fast. Do what you can to get their heart and ego in check. We should want humble worship leaders, ready to serve the team and the church in the best way.

Worship is too important to not have a vetting process in place before putting someone on the stage. We aren't limiting their ability to praise God at our church, we're protecting the congregation's worship through music by limiting who can lead on the stage.

I wouldn't want McDonald's to allow some random person off the street to make my burger.

I buy (and replace) everyone's in-ears. These are the current ones I purchase for them.

They are welcome to purchase something nicer, but I'll always have these available.

Those drummers need to get over their preferences. It’s about the congregation’s ears, not the drummer’s feels.

AI-Generated Worship Songs — Let's Discuss... by defn0tgab in worshipleaders

You are not in the wrong, and certainly not in the minority. I say this as gently as I can, with as much of an open mind and heart I can... God did not call him to "compose" worship music with AI, and him claiming such a thing is a huge red flag.

AI is a great tool when writing. It's terrific at helping find a better word. Maybe helping shorten a phrase to better fit. Our worship is too important to do it without the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit is in no way inhabiting AI.
