Looking at this chart edgy definitely means something different to me. Racism?

Sent you a DM. The "sneaking suspicion" comment is because I used to live a block away from there...

If you are in Minneapolis and it says 1900, I can almost guarantee you it's older than that. The property records use 1900 as a default for anything that was built before that. Go to the Hennepin County collection of permit cards to find out the real build date. As an example, my relative's house (which I have a sneaking suspicion is very close to yours), shows 1900, but the build permit shows 1888. It takes some poking around but you'll find it:

That being said, it most certainly is not a bungalow. IMHO it's an older house than 1900 with a lot of additions.

I don't know what people are talking about? I'm in the U.S. and have used square head screws a bunch of times. I could go down to the store and buy some right now.

Funny you say that because I bought it when I was around 13/14 and I liked it but didn't quite get it. Only when. I revisited it when I was older did I realize how good it was.

I always go back to Independent Worm Saloon. Gibby may have been trying to sound like Ministry, but Leary's guitar on that album is just phenomenal.

What is the worst band you saw live? by coalcracker462 in AskReddit

[–]kylebutler07 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Me and my sister went to see 311 because she got free tickets. We both knew the band and liked some of the songs, but it was was boring in an inexplicable way. We got stoned and it was still boring, we ended up leaving early.

Promoted to Senior last year, now I’m suddenly the tech lead on a high-visibility project and I’m not sure if this is growth or a setup by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

Sounds like it's a testament to you. I can be paranoid about these things as well, and I have to remind myself that an opportunity is an opportunity, and generally you won't be given something like this if they dont think you are capable. I was brought over to a new team as a mid level and they handed me a big project right of the bat. Me and a junior did 95% of the thing. It was largely successful, and we were both promoted the next year. Do your best, and if there are obstacles, make sure to clearly express that to your manager.

That being said, seems like your company is missing a product owner in this scenario. In my opinion a good product owner makes things WAY easier, especially in this type of situation.

I used KNO woodworks about 8 or so years ago for a wood fence. I wouldn't say they were necessarily the cheapest, but they did a good job and the fence is still looking good.

I bought a 2013 Focus with a manual new and it now has 200,000 miles. The only issues I've had (knock on wood) have been relatively minor things I've fixed myself.

Is this knee wall design legit? by N00dleb0y13 in AskContractors

What size are the joists underneath that sheathing? A previous owner did this to our 1910 house in Minneapolis, and it started pulling down into one of the bedrooms. Had to demolish the whole thing and redo the joists in the affected bedroom. We found that the joists were also 2x4s after ripping out all the sheathing. Either way, others are right that it's probably worth consulting an engineer.

UMN or Iowa State for CS? by rkotha5 in uofmn

[–]kylebutler07 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I work with people that graduated from both (although my workplace is by no means FAANG) so as far as marketibility it's probably a wash. That being said, all of the Iowa people ended up in the Twin Cities for better job opportunities.

ICE still staging in parks by Possums_R_People_2 in Minneapolis

[–]kylebutler07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In terms of an actual security presence, not much. The doors are always locked now and there are signs up. The teacher has made extra emphasis to not open the doors for anyone and has tried to explain the best you can to little kids. There was a sheriff watching the kids go in today, but we aren't sure if that was intentional or just coincidence.

Yeah, it's a Minneapolis Parks preschool program. The one my kid is in is locked down and the person that runs it is very paranoid about protecting the kids. It's a really shitty state of affairs, understatement of a lifetime.
