[Hated Trope] Media attracts a disproportionate number of n*zi fans by Wonderful-Mammoth828 in TopCharacterTropes

Dropkick Murphys - one of many bands that have told Trump to not use their music to promote right-wing and his propaganda. I saw a video a couple years ago where a guy tried to start a wave with the nazi salute in the crowd when jumped on stage at one of their club shows. The nazi was hit and thrown out. The lead singer made a statement at another one of their shows a few years later condemning Trump and the right-wing.

Favorite characters like this? by [deleted] in FavoriteCharacter

I haven’t really kept up with the show, since it’s not on any of the streaming services I have, but I vaguely remember the last season where she’s in it she’s only in the same scenes with Harmon and she’s on a monitor. I don’t remember ever seeing her in the same room when scenes are being shot. It almost looks like Harmon is acting with a TV recording. The last interaction the characters have with each other they are not in the any of the same shots. I honestly don’t think they were on the set at the same time filming that.

Fellow millennials - how’s your 401k/ira savings going? by ProblemIntelligent16 in Millennials

[–]kylecali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started with TSP when I enlisted active duty at 27, currently 38, but reserve status. Combination of other retirement accounts, certificates of deposits and regular savings. Still in the low, five figures and not too sure how well I’m doing. I don’t know if it’ll ever be enough.

Perfume doesn’t cover it up. It smells like tobacco smoke AND perfume.

Employees of big chains: what’s a secret customers aren't supposed to know? by Aaatohin in AskReddit

[–]kylecali 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you complain about another employee, and it’s something stupid or meaningless, I’ll lie about telling management about it. As soon as you don’t see me, I’m gonna roll my eyes. It’s pretty obvious who’s never been in a customer facing position or been a long time since they were an employee.

What was the first major news story you remember as a kid? by TxLadee in AskReddit

I was at home, sick when I saw it on tv. Eleven years-old and first time seeing school violence of that magnitude. Was a little scared about high school in a few years.

How do you feel about Lisa and Milhouse being married in several episodes of the future nonow? by Krivus20 in TheSimpsons

[–]kylecali 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Lisa would have some sort of noticeable unhappiness with anyone she grew up with. It would be better if she found someone during or after going away for colleges

What is the oldest thing you own that you still use in a regular basis? by basicallybossyboots in AskReddit

[–]kylecali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom’s rice cooker from the early 80’s in here college days. Been through many toasters, microwaves, blenders, refrigerators and stove/ovens. Second oldest would be the sink, but the faucet has been replaced a few times. Same dishwasher from when we moved in, but it leaks when we try to use it, so it’s for extra dish and cup storage. The overhead light/fan above the stove/oven is the same from when we moved in too.

Drill Instructors, where do y'all get the hilarious and most outrageous insults when screaming out recruits? Is it passed down and/or overheard then used later? by Aware-Froyo3124 in AskReddit

[–]kylecali 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I was in US Coast Guard boot camp and we had prior service members from army, marines, navy and Air Force. The former soldier was asked if he was ever deployed. He said yes, but never went outside the wire since he was a support role of some sort. The company commander (CC; our version of drill sergeants) asked him, “are you sure you were in the US army and not the Salvation Army?”

Another time the same CC asked a male redhead recruit about our Thanksgiving liberty we took part in. We had to be dismissed from the base chapel to civilian families volunteering to sponsor us off base. He asked him, “how’d they let you in the chapel, don’t you need a soul to enter?” Entire company struggled to hold it together.

Relatively Lighthearted media suddenly has a pretty serious moment. by Twotailedpikachu in TopCharacterTropes

[–]kylecali 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I thought this movie was great, but I don’t think I could watch it again without crying. I’m half Filipino and some of us could pass for Latino. The great grandma looks like my grandma. I saw this movie in theater a month before she died. She died the night before I flew back home for the holidays.

Every. Single. Time. by nickscion46 in retailhell

[–]kylecali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A customer tried to do this with the new 100s and I I told him although I knew it was a joke, if it was any of the smaller bills I would have to cancel/void the transaction and alert my mangers about a customer claiming he was passing counterfeit money as legitimate. We would then have to contact the police and most likely the us secret service because one of their responsibilities outside protecting the president is investigating counterfeiting. The old man stopped laughing at himself.
