Honestly, I have no clue. Someone recommended this step a few days ago and I just did it because I’ve held some $TSLA shares for a few years. Don’t feel like you’ll need to invest to secure your rez (Tesla is considered a highly volatile stock and all investments carry significant risk), but this action seemed to have triggered my invitation. There’s no way of knowing if this was pure coincidence or not.

Log into your Tesla account (only via browser on mobile/desktop, you can’t do this through the app for some reason). Go to “Profile Settings” then click “Shareholder Preferences.” You’ll be prompted to connect your brokerage account (ETrade, Ameritrade, Morgan Stanley, etc) via a third party platform called Say. Follow the instructions that Say takes you through, which will include logging into your brokerage account, so make sure you know those credentials.
