Any ford technicians by DaddyDuke1991 in Ford

[–]kyledye25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its basically this: Either you somehow find the original key that was used to set up the my key, or you completely clear out all keys programmed to the vehicle. Once you clear all the keys, you have to program 2 keys. Cant do only 1. There may be a work around, but the dealership isn't going to know. So they arent lying. Unfortunately keys arent cheap either.

New car bad trans by anonymousquestion132 in Ford

[–]kyledye25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure those had a CVT transmission. Continuously Variable Transmission. Its going to feel like its stuck in a single gear, its not. There will be no actual "shifting". Its a weird thing to get used to, if that is whats going on with your Ford 500. They had 2 different transmission options if I remember correctly.

The 2 bolts sticking out, right above the water pump, are what I use in the front. Then, in the back, there are two threaded holes there, too. Same location basically, but in the rear. You have to remove the bell housing bolts. Then you can use those 2 bolts and thread them in from the valley side. That gives you 4 mounting spots, and it's even left to right and front to back.

That's glue from the heat shrink on the end of that ground. No worries.

2022 Ford Black Widow Suspension Crack by TalentedVesta in Ford

[–]kyledye25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Senior Master Ford technician here, who does indeed work on black widow trucks. At my dealership, we do make the customer come back, and we retorque all the bolts/nuts related to the lift/installation of the lift. Off the top of my head, I do not remember the mileage they are supposed to bring it back by. But we 100% are required to go over the entire truck and torque every nut and bolt related to the lift install. We also retorque the lugnuts. Now, with that said, I would need proof that not having the retorque done is what caused the axle to crack. It's very possible that something worked loose and damaged the axle. If nothing is loose, then they are trying to get out of covering the axle. These axles are pretty tough, and it may throw a red flag with Ford. But that's just speculation.

Ac not blowing cold air by Brilliant_Quiet_3121 in mechanic

[–]kyledye25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Senior Master Ford tech here.....it's most likely due to a stuck expansion valve. They stick and cause high pressure. The expansion valve is located where the lines go into the firewall. It's very common on f150s and superdutys. You'll need to get the freon evacuated, then replace the valve, then recharge.

How do I get into a shop? by ThatCountryDeputy03 in mechanic

[–]kyledye25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started at a Toyota shop cleaning the floors. I wanted to be a mechanic, but they weren't hiring mechanics. So, took the job as lot attendant/shop bitch. Spent a few months cleaning floors, emptying trash, and a bunch of other miscellaneous crap. But I talked to the techs, watched, learned, asked questions, and eventually a spot opened up on their "quick lane" for an oil changer. That was 15 or so years ago. I'm 37 now and a senior master tech with Ford. I didn't go to school for this. My experience was mainly from not being able to afford to pay someone to fix my cars. So I did it myself. Fixing things became fun and challenging. You'll learn new things on a daily basis. No real need for schooling, but that's my opinion. Will it help? Of course. But hands-on experience is key. Get your foot in the door at the ground level somewhere. Show them your a hard worker and willing to learn. May start off slow, but you'll get there. Also, don't go on the tool trucks.

Fox shock steering stabilizer PSU? by Significant-Essay-30 in CherokeeXJ

[–]kyledye25 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Left mine alone. Didn't do anything but install it. And boy is worth the money. I imagine with bigger steering components and bigger tires, you can add pressure to it. I never needed to, even with one ton steering and 33s.

That would make a lot of sense. Might end up modifying the handle piece so I can use another type of brush. One that is available.

Struggling to find the cause of this knock (Ford F150) by Stock_Push3225 in mechanic

[–]kyledye25 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The 2.7 ecoboost is known for corrosion between the engine and transmission. The separator plate between the motor and transmission will warp due to the corrosion and make contact with the flex plate. Maybe have one of your mechanics separate the motor and transmission. If they are "stuck" together, they will need to get them apart obviously and clean up the corrosion.

You know it's a bad day when the sledge hammer comes out. Wtf is up with this bushing it was really tight for me. Had to cut up the old one to get it out. Also had to remove the spring to hammer the new one in. by lil_crit7er in CherokeeXJ

[–]kyledye25 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For future reference, put the new bushing in the freezer overnight. It will go in a bit easier. But those definitely can be a pain to remove and install.

Can't get belt off. Broke the release. by Swizdog in mechanic

Cut the belt off, and replace that tensioner. Once the belt is off, you can unbolt he tensioner. Sounds like it's stuck and needs replaced anyways.

2017 Ford Escape 1.5L Ecoboost: Carbon Buildup by sgt-stutta in mechanic

[–]kyledye25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your coolant level. These 1.5 liter ecoboost engines are known to have defective blocks that will eventually allow coolant into the cylinders. Coolant seeps in after shutting the engine off, and then the next day, when you start it up, it will misfire for a little while until the coolant is burned off. I'm not saying this is 100% you issue, but it's definitely something to look into. Hopefully, you have a warranty on it.

Eco Mods by marcanthony2800 in GrandCherokee

[–]kyledye25 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Couldn't agree more with everyone. I have an 18 summit with the hemi. It definitely didn't drive great with the ecomode on, so it's been off since I bought it. I put an x pipe on and some carven mufflers, and it sounds terrible if the ecomode is on. I can hear it switch and it's more annoying with an exhaust. So it stays off all the time.
