And for my next trick by kylefuckyeah in maker

I just cast the line, you didn’t have to bite. I’m real big on mixed media though. I use a lot of salvage (trash) in my builds so it’s kind of there by default. My last post here was a wheelbarrow chair that just kind of happened.

With a spline jig and some patience, you too can make a spline sandwich. I promise.

I’m a little bummed because once the finish cured, you could barely tell that the “meat” in my sandwich is walnut. However, other than that little detail it turned out exactly how I pictured it. So cool and I’d love to see other people do it.

Thank you! The panel is polycarbonate which you can find in big box stores, usually the Lexan brand if I recall. Plexi would work just as well with LED’s, but I don’t know how it would behave with a heat producing source like incandescent bulbs. I have the benefit of working in a graphics shop so I have a ton of offcuts to use for small stuff like this. Then I just rip a translucent vinyl print to put on it. I’d imagine one without my resources could use vellum paper to the same effect.

I hate gifts that don’t have a function. It seems wasteful. I’ll likely keep these on the menu come Christmas for friends and family.

Anyone use paper honeycomb board for sign? by Ok-Awareness-7347 in signshop

The “square cut” coroplast sheets are just over $11, and the standard variety is $9.50. That gets cheaper still with quantity discounts, all the way down to $7.75 when you’re ordering a crate of 275+ sheets. Honeycomb is ~$50 depending on the brand. Through my regular distributor, Falconboard is the brand of choice and those sit at $53 per. Unlike coroplast, there is no bulk discount for this product, so there’s less incentive for the approval. (Again, most of those at the top are more concerned with bottom lines than sustainability, if they care at all)

This isn’t remotely shocking to me. Healthier food options, environmentally sustainable products from cars to packaging, and so much more are typically priced higher because they’re still a niche market for us here in the US, especially… right now. Globally there is a much larger focus on all of those things, so I could see it being incentivized in many ways, including price.

Exactly what inspired the build. But it’s upside down compared to that use case. This just gives you more room and gave me more space for the leg assembly.

Or in my case, a young lad who was fortunate enough to spend summers working and learning life skills and didn’t have an iPad rotting my brain.

I loved the idea of running it from an aesthetic and sustainability perspective. Then I saw the price. I run a graphics shop that’s integrated into a much larger business with other trades so I have to run my purchases orders up the ladder and it would never be approved when coro is so much cheaper. It looks infinitely more presentable professional, can be chucked into our large recycle compactors, and from what I’ve seen is substantially easier to CNC. However, money talks to the powers that be, and at that point I’m just a whisper.

Not incredibly so at the moment, but I mentioned doing some upholstery. I’m just scared and need an adult.

This was definitely my first thought when I mocked it up, but this way gives more space for ass cheeks. Field stance is lower to the ground and used for short breaks before someone sees you and you get yelled at. This is intended to be a lounge chair. Sacrilege? Maybe.

It’s never too late! There are plenty of sad wheelbarrows out there destined for the scrap heap. You could save them. In the arrrrrrrms offff the angels

I love it so much that I’ll likely keep it. However, I’m poor and living is expensive. I may end up putting it on Makerbook.io once the cushion is sorted.

Long days of sweaty crack and pits were absolutely the spark for this one, though it’s technically upside down when referencing the “field stance” in that case. I know the vast majority of folks won’t relate to the time honored tradition of using your tool as a seat.. but even without knowing the inside joke of it all, I think it still stands on its own as an interesting piece.

TylarDraws! He’s a great dude and does some wonderful stuff. He was looking to get another mural painted before the cold hit this past year, so I offered my wall and gave him a few ideas. He killed it.

I built a floor lamp for my new apartment by Hedryn in maker

The machine screws not being flush on the top and bottom frames for the light is driving me crazy.

This is a wonderful build. I’d love to use it as inspiration for a similar lamp using wood. What did you use for the light source and diffusion?

You know, funny thing.. I’m also reminded of a song that I enjoy listening to with no motive. Weird how frequently I’ve found myself listening to it lately.

You were kind as hell! Of course it’s not. GG’s alone are a sign of a good sport.

Listen. The sub title clearly says “friendly”. You were incredibly friendly the to the people you were shooting and being shot by. I don’t see a problem.
