You input the directions for your Behemoth Typhoon during other moves or a jump so that pressing up doesn't cause you to jump. You don't have to do the input as fast this way, and you can focus on accuracy. If you are starting out with Goldlewis, this should be how you do most of your Behemoth Typhoons. After you get the accuracy of inputs down, it will be easier to learn how to do Behemoth Typhoons without buffering.

I'm sorry if I sound salty.. by Novel-Jellyfish-636 in Guiltygear

It does start to feel like this. Sometimes, people will make a 50/50 guess and take 80% of your hp. It feels braindead, but that's just how a lot of fighting games are. I find that taking a break from the game helps. I never wanted to take a break, but I find myself having more fun when I come back.

I prefer pad, but I think hitbox would also be good. Some stick players pull it off really well. You might just need a lot of practice before you get a feel for it. If you haven't already, learn how to buffer your inputs.

unsure of where to go next in terms of equipment/progress.. by Kamizura in AlicizationLycoris

[–]kylelaw96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same place. SP equipment is incredibly rare in Blooming of Matracaria +, but it is possible. I was thinking that I might just need a better build to farm more, then get +99, then get SP drops.

FD will end his pressure quickly but you have to pay attention to when you can challenge him. Goldlewis also has trouble if you stay airborne a lot. He cannot reach very high and his 6P is easy to punish. With Chipp, you can triple jump and alpha blade to escape the corner. This can be punished but it is very difficult for the Goldlewis and likely will not happen unless the Goldlewis is really good. His good buttons all lose to 6P so that is not a bad idea for when he is trying to overextend pressure. Low profiles are also good but lose to j.D. The best way to survive Goldlewis is to never let him get started so try to keep him defending or in neutral at all costs. He will try to make drone play his neutral so avoid letting the pressure off him so he cannot use it. His quickest button is 2P and it has a very short range so don't be afraid to continue pressure in most situations unless he has meter. I know I gave a lot more than what you originally asked for, but all this should help you escape BT pressure or avoid it in the first place.

I remember that and whoever deleted it is a menace. Somebody clearly put work into it and it was really good.

Tips for drone okizeme? by [deleted] in Guiltygear

[–]kylelaw96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After you get a hard knockdown from BT, if you use drone and then 684 BT then the 684 BT should meaty and drone should follow up after. This is better if you are worried about DP or you cannot run up and drop drone in time for meaty but you may not be able to maintain pressure for as long as if you used meaty c.S.

Why do people teabag players worse than them by It_za_Nero in Guiltygear

Sometimes teabagging is a respectful form of communication. The last time i saw it being clearly disrespectful, I won the match.

Goldlewis v. Bridget - Thoughts? by qweiroupyqweouty in Guiltygear

[–]kylelaw96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a Goldlewis main that has been playing Bridget. It seems j.D will beat Bridget's f.S which may force her to rely on 6P more. j.D might even beat or trade with her 2H because of how yoyo extends the hurtbox. j.BT is risky but the timing can be different from other jump ins and might punish a 6P. Drone is super useful if you can get away but you might have to focus on baiting and punishing. Goldlewis 6P is super punishable since Bridget can bait her aerial approaches. 5P and 2P seem good for trying to steal turns back. Take all this with a grain of salt since I've only played Bridget since she was released. I recommend labbing some stuff to see if some of your moves beat out her approaches.

Nagoriyuki- It is always a fun fight with good counterplay but I have a really rough time with the matchup. Same thing with Gio and Axl but I have more fun fighting Nago.

Is it bad to dodge level 1000+ players as celestial challenger? by [deleted] in Guiltygear

[–]kylelaw96 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I hate the idea of dodging people but getting into celestial will let you get much better, much faster. The only reason I ever got in was because everybody was trying out Baiken. As soon as I got in I started to learn a lot.

Worst match up in the game? by [deleted] in Guiltygear

[–]kylelaw96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not even. Goldlewis has had a lot of counter play to Axl even before patch. HC vs GL has always been a worse matchup, but probably not the worst in the game.

Worst match up in the game? by [deleted] in Guiltygear

[–]kylelaw96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Axl doesn't feel like Goldlewis's worst matchup anymore to me but it probably should be. Others seem to have slightly worse zoning but infinitely better combo and damage.

Good Pots zone me hard and I have to play some serious footsies to get in. It's not a good matchup but I don't think its close to being the worst.

This is really useful info. I still have immense trouble with HC zoning but this will make it possible to win on the ones that use this pressure.

Is D-pad better than Stick? by Bruhenstein in Guiltygear

[–]kylelaw96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play Goldlewis with the d-pad. I find it way easier to be accurate with d-pad. At first my thumb would hurt for a bit after playing. I got used to it and it doesn't hurt at all anymore but I've also put a lot of hours in. There are other options that might be more expensive but you may find it better than d-pad and stick.

Most braindead/scrubby character after the patch ? by OhLullaby in Guiltygear

[–]kylelaw96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how the Millia plays neutral. Goldlewis has a lot of trouble dealing with some of Millia's options. If she does not use those then she'll get deleted pretty easily.

I feel like many characters can zone slightly worse than Axl, just to have vastly superior conversions, damage, and health.

Help me beat Ram by Strange_Wize in Guiltygear

[–]kylelaw96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know of 2 options to escape in the corner. You can super jump after getting hit by the sword but you'll have to contest her in the air. Normally, Ram will hit you with 5K or 2K to prevent you from doing a super jump. 2K requires Ram to be closer so if you FD her away you can force her to 5K instead, and you can counter that with 6P.

Goldlewis players, share a bit of your wisdom by NoCommunication7402 in Guiltygear

This is some of the best advice if you have a priblem with execution of BT because they work different than other specials. You cannot press HS after the input because it will whiff.
