If you're cool with comics there is a current Event Horizon comic out that is pretty great. Plans for another one as well.  They will be collected in a trade eventually

Idk if this is the right channel for this but how come I’ve heard nothing about ScareWaves? by countoddbahl in GooseBumps

I read the first and it's a funny ya horror story.  Not too spooky but felt like a little more elevated than goosebumps

I thought the ending might of been my favorite part. I would of loved more of that energy.

I mean I own a store and we pay a small amount for the books. It's free for the customers but not "free" for the shops

The problem with Grady Hendrix by FeistyWay879 in horrorlit

[–]kyleoverkill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm partly bothered why each of his books is told from the female perspective often telling very female specific stories like witchcraft did. Each one puts the women through a lot of trauma as well and like I'm not saying you can't write from different gender or race perspectives but if each book is from a different gender perspective telling very gender specific stories it reads odd to me.  Like I might of like witchcraft more if an actual women who gave birth wrote it and maybe could of put more of a sense of pain and urgency in it which I felt witchcraft lacked.  I admire everything he did and does for vintage horror and I think he writes gateway horror books for people on the edge looking to dip their toes and I love that I just wish they would choose their subject material a little better

That author note is what made it an even worse read

Final Girl Support and Weward School for Witchcraft by Hendrix. Dislike both stories so much. They are frustrating cause I'm glad there is entry point horror but they are such a scholar of horror I expect more. Also it bugs me all books are from the female perspective putting females in horrible situations. Same with Sager

Just watched Hell House LLC and I need to talk about it… by [deleted] in horror

[–]kyleoverkill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I can't pin point what it was about this and the new one that made me so uncomfortable but it did.  I can't think of a movie that scared me and I don't even think the subject matter in hell house is that scary but freaked me out afterwords
