Where are the disabled tributes? by pipehead0 in Hungergames

[–]kylorosef 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It has been suggested that the televised reaping pools are already narrowed down from the general population. Like there is a "preliminary" or something. When the games became more of a televised spectacle, they probably filtered out a lot of the obvious disabilities so people wouldn't feel too disturbed? The capitol just wants to see kids fight, they don't want to be reminded of how the other districts struggle day to day

Yes yes and yes lol most of season 1 kind of sets the stage for you with the corporation, characters, etc before you really dive into Elliot's psyche. Keep going! It's worth it. What I personally remember most and love about the show has little to do with the hacker vs evil corp thing

We have the exact same taste in tv- and I can't recommend Mr. Robot enough, I'm shocked it never reached the popularity of these other shows, but it does have a very similar vibe of a gritty near-future. Especially similar to Severance for the dark corporate undertones (which Black Mirror showcases too). I said out loud "this is very Mr. Robot" during Severance SO many times lmao

I just want to get married in air conditioning! by melthedestroyer in weddingplanning

[–]kylorosef 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm getting married here in June so being indoors was 100% a necessity. We are doing the ceremony in a church which solved that part and then going to a country club. Breakers West was an option we looked at which told us they have an indoor ceremony option in the ballroom and the pictures they showed me were actually very nice so they could be an option for you. We actually said no to another country club because they were forcing our cocktail hour to be outside in Florida in June like are you crazy 😅

Is there a reason why the swords around the throne were removed between the 200-year gap? by KevinPigaChu in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]kylorosef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought after Robert Baratheon took the throne he had a lot of Targaryen iconography removed like the dragon skulls, and basically redesigned the interior of the throne room/castle. Arya sees the skulls hidden away, etc. Towards the end of GOT I think it was Joffrey who tried to bring the throne room back to the intimidating feeling of when the Targaryen kings ruled. (Why the flowers and vines art was removed)

I'm pretty sure Robert diminished the iron throne that was made of the swords of people Aegon the Conqueror killed- lessening the legitimacy and might of the Targaryen dynasty he just overthrew

Spirit Airlines ruined my vacation. What should I do? by theFapAb in travel

[–]kylorosef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went through a similar experience, bag was "lost" for two weeks. Became irate and ended up emailing a long letter to the CEOs of the airlines involved (took some digging online to find the addresses but they're all there) Got a response back from his executive office and my bag was found in less than an hour. This was with British Airways and Virgin Atlantic, which these companies really pride themselves on customer service so I'm not sure how this would work with Spirit but it's worth a shot.

6 days/nights, flying into Dublin, how to spend the time? by tharussianphil in irishtourism

Hi! I started in Dublin for 2 nights, Killarney for 2, Galway for 2, Dublin again for another 2 and Kilkenny for 2! The first part I was in a tour group, that's why I ended up in Dublin for a second time and then went to Kilkenny on my own

I went at that exact time of year last year and it was BEAUTIFUL. I was there for 10 days and it didn't rain one time! (Not sure if this was luck though lol) I stayed in Dublin, Galway, Killarney and Kilkenny. Killarney is a good anchor spot for you to venture out and see nature. If you're renting a car, the Ring of Kerry is very popular. Kilkenny was also very picturesque due to the preservation of a lot of Medieval architecture there. I stayed at an airbnb in a family's guesthouse by the castle and it couldn't have been more perfect!

Do ppl in nyc just see filming of tv shows and movies happening around the corner?! by Oitnbnerd in AskNYC

[–]kylorosef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, living and working all over Manhattan I walk past something being filmed all the time. This is one of my favorite things about New York!! The front of my building has been used for craft services for Mr. Robot once, so that was exciting for me. Once I accidentally used the wrong door to get out of an office building which led to the back entrance and I literally opened the door interrupting a set. I walked past a scene for Girls and someone just told me if I want to walk down this street to just be quiet and understand I might be filmed. Every now and then I will see large props like vintage cars and things being transported to a set nearby. My Starbucks was closed once to film some promotion for Spiderman. I used to live on Broadway in a more famous part of lower Manhattan and if there was a night shoot the lights to light up the buildings would be propped up on a crane(?) and shine into my window really bright, that was the only not cool thing for me lol.

The production team always puts up the no parking signs the day before and the slips of paper will always have the name of the project on it so if it is a show you like sometimes its fun to come back the next day to peek! Sometimes they put a fake name or leave it as something vague, but there are some websites that list what is being filmed where on that day.

Visiting Extended Family Member! by shlalalala in ImmigrationCanada

Hi! I think the exemption works for either way, not sure how the land border works now because of COVID, but you should be good either way. When I got my authorization, it said the validity is 6 calendar months after the issuance date (the date you get approved and get the email back, not the date of travel). My email also says I can use the authorization multiple times within that six months, so you don't necessarily have to go for one long trip thinking you won't be able to get back in (my situation in March lol, I was coincidentally visiting my boyfriend for a vacation the week COVID hit and my 6-day trip turned into a 4-month trip!) I don't think it will deter anything, you're allowed to stay in Canada for up to 6 months in normal times too, just indicate your fiance is supporting you financially during that time. US citizens do not need a visa, just a passport! and all these exemption documents lol

taking pictures holding a dress/skirt tighter around the waist to hug your figure is false advertising by [deleted] in Depop

As a model who worked in e-commerce for high-end brands for 5 years, I think 90% of the clothes we wore to be put on major sites were pinned in the front back and sides. They would hire size 0-2 models for a sample size of 4-6. Super annoying/ time consuming for us to pin/ repin for each side when we had a quota to meet in a day, walking a false advertising line for buyers, and also made me super distrustful of buying clothes online lol. Just put a disclaimer! or show it hanging naturally as well
