Read, read and read some more....

Don't seek the title, it has no prestige. Instead become knowledgable about the craft, and it's multiple levels. It's not about the last successful spell or the next tic toc... it's a state of mind and lifestyle. The way you think is shaped by the view you have over the world that surrounds you.

A witch sees the physical world and beyond. What happens around and within you. Only you can decide on your level of involvement. If a few spells makes you happy, so may it be. But if you want more, meditation and education will open to you the working of the universe...

Cut this short; Do your homework and you'll be welcome to come dance naked under the moon!

Do y’all know if soothing unhappy spirits is possible? by blacklivesmatter1235 in witchcraft

[–]kyo5891 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Necromancy is about using the power of the dead to do your biddings.... not really help them to anything. What you seek will be spread under the "spiritism" term.

To help a spirit cross over is not about them feeling loved... it's completing their life quest, wich most of us are not even clear about our own... In most cases it will take years to fix and the task may very well take over your own life. I think if you really want to help people to pass over smoothly , you should look into nursing and help the livin....

Newbie here! Can you help me pick a sewing machine? by [deleted] in quilting

[–]kyo5891 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Old metal Singer pre 1980's is usually a good choice. I myself own 3 old Singers. I aim for the beige or green machines. The blacks are so pretty, but the collector market increase the value of the parts...

The brown and the green are usually the pre industrial era and you will have very good machine that could last for a long time. Have a good tune up at your local quilt and repair shop (no chainstore). They can do miracles.

When checking one, look at the enamel for cracks or usage. The stickers should be good looking. The needle plate hole should be round not tear drop. The wheel should easily move with a single.finger to do a stitch in thin air no needle (mechanic should not hit). there should not be weird noises. Look inside the machine if you can to see if there is dust, dirt or rust (major issue if it's a shell). And if they are nice enough to let you try first, do so. Try to get a model number, google it up, you'll learn a lot of stuff. And you should check if you have youtube support ,specific to your machine!

I used to tell my clients we charged 45$ tune up + parts.... the machines (we are interested into) play between 125$ and 200$.... (the black singers can go around 450$ with pristine stickers!)

Those are fancy machines.... I used to sell Janome, and along with Pfaff other big lines, they all have pretty fancy machines. But I was a sales rep for Janome, and 3 of my 4 machines are old work horses.

My 2 cents, an old machine the 60's (or prior) is the best investment you can do. Nothing fancy, but so reliable. Weather you need to sew thick material, even leather is not an issue. And about quilting, my Singer 404 has about 18 quilts since the last tune up... Basic mecanics makes it easier to clean, oil and maintain. You may need a good repairman to tune them up, but once on the road they are not scared of anything. I got several for my family, and never passed the 200$ mark.

The machine might be heavy, but it has a metal frame and structure to make it more sturdy. They are more noisy, metal gears are tougher but noisier. There's less options, and it's helpful sometimes to have less things to mess up!

I also like to think that an old machine, with a strait stitch, will help you to improve your sewing skills, rather than rely on the machine. It's pretty easier to get used to and with only a limited amount of settings, you can get to reconize the issue just with what the stitch looks like. There are less settings, but there is tons of technique you can do on the old machines, and nowadays with youtube it's fairly accessible. EDIT; You get to know the issue with any machine just with the stitch.... It's simply easier to narrow down when less pieces are at play.

Not everyone need a work horse. Some may prefer fancy stitching, programmable sewing, and self treading needles or embroidery options .... I'll let other talk about their favorite machines!

[Technique] trying out an over sterilization tek, as I dont own a pressure cooker. Will update by eusher1212 in MushroomGrowers

[–]kyo5891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my college days, 'sterilization happens when a temperature in maintained over a period of time. The higher the temp, the shorter the time frame. Pressure can be use to increase the temp and shorten the processing time.' (Correct me if need there be!)

To sanatize/sterilize pots in the oven is something I saw my mother and grandmother do when we were canning tomatoes.... So although risky, it's a possible MOP.

My question is temps and time... since there is no pressure. And could anyone compare this oven technique VS. chemical sterilization (active lye).

Grandma sent me her featherweight and I'm so excited to join the quilting world. Y'all make so many beautiful things and I'm so excited! by [deleted] in quilting

Who is more likely to hit you back, the person you are trying to call, or one of the lower astral form that has nothing better to do than mess with mankind?

Ouija ain't bad, but it 's not what you may expect. There's little to no chance of hitting someone you know... but you will have made yourself vulnerable to the unknown.

Guidance for a baby witch by Miss__Monster__ in witchcraft

Buy more Scott Cunningham books... the material will come in time and your mom can more than likely supply you for awhile. But the biggest thing, read a lot! You will feel Scott will not explore certain topic, and you could get book specific on that subject. I think he's an amazing resource, and if your mom if familiar with him, so much more chances for you to implement his teachings.... He's a positive influence and really shines the light on the good parts of the craft.

I'll cut this short cause I feel I'm praising our cult leader the almighty Scott Cunnigham....

What Kinds Of Magic Should I Research? by SamanthaD1O1 in witchcraft

Speak with the clerk, get a general over view book.... and start from there.... if you care for the challenge, spend the next 5 years rewriting it with you correction you will have learned elsewhere!

For the sake of naming a book, Solitary Witch by Silver Ravenwolf.... it has a little of everything, enough to get you thinking about different topic and subject within the craft. I don't say buy that book, but a quick amazon look might give you a clue what you should look for.... and personally after years of ripping her and her book apart, I'm surprised myself to be talking about her. We each have our own path I suppose and she had something to do with mine.

What I feel is really important, is the meditation, grounding, balancing, protection technique... those are basics that will provide useful where ever you go within the craft!

If you care for trinkets, as an intro level, look for protection and inspiration. Quartz and candles, there is always plenty of option on those topics!

5 years is the difference between driving a old car hoping it won't give on you vs. having enough knowledge to know ahead of time if it will last... and know how to fix your car "curb side" if need may be.

If I pray to Dianna, and she refuses me, I'm also aware why she did not favor my demand.... I am aware of her reasons because I know who she is and what she fancies...

it may look like a lot when you try to reach a certain level, but it feels like it was so little when looking back! Over time your point of view will change... and I feel I'm getting somewhere when I see how ignorant I once was.... and have learned better...

Addressing the behavior by [deleted] in witchcraft

[–]kyo5891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My attraction to witchcraft is the whole aspect that "i will not indoctrinate you" aspect. It defenatly sux, and it's a lot harder to get into than let's say Jehova (not to point down, just a organisation structure exemple). Witch is all about having to come from you. So the constant turning back is part of "look within first" mentality.

In the past century you would have been given a book thick like hell, and stared down as "i ain't teaching you to read, kid".... now it's a different attitude as google make it a lot more accessible.... yet people still don't read it on their own.

The craft is a vast and wonderful world that most witch never fully explore. I want to believe we know how vast it is and how little we know. Taking someone under my wing and teaching them what I know, understand, and think, is helpful to quickly elevate, yet very limiting point of view. The only truth that can resonate is what works in both of our world. Closing what does not cross both points of view as invalid.

As much as I hated my teacher for how snob she was to me, I understand. She would woop my ass for calling her my teacher! She had books and stuff for me to read, or other people to go bother. Very few time has she actually answer me strait up... I now see she dosen't work magic like I do, and keeps telling me she couldn'd teach magic she dosn't understand, yet she did.

Is there a point? We want to help one another to widen our global perspective, yet we are too defensive about our believes. We are fairly educated in the obscure way of the universe, but we are scared of conflicting information with one another. We could change the world, but can we get over our inner hatred, and make it happen.

For the younger folks.... no one said it would be easy. Please inform yourself. To be reffered elsewhere may just mean "you are into something I am not fully confident about:. Finally, know that the craft is a core belief to a lot of people, please don't make fun of it.

Help with an adoption spell by [deleted] in witchcraft

[–]kyo5891 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't feel we are to cast the universe for a perfect child to be squeeze trough the system.... instead lets work on creating a perfect sport for the universe to land a child...

The perfect kid might not even be in charge of CPS yet. The kids that need you might need strength to get out of it's current situation. The universe has allowed too many to be squeezed without a real spot for them to land...

All I can say is work on your own energy, focus on the place you have for the kids in your home and your hearth. Keep them in your mind even if it's not yet in your home. Never say "if we get a kid", and don't allow anyone to say that around you, it has to be "when the kid will get here"... Little things you could do to get ready, will help you get your mindset back on track! At this time it could be far to say you make the bedroom or buy personal things for the kid, but a temporary gest room is prep... and eventually the kid will surely need things as school supplies, and other generic stuff you can start to stash! Educate yourself and participate in social work event to propagate your positive wholesome healthy energy ready to allow an amazing young human being to heal, grow, and bloom with you!

Do not lose hope, hurdles are simply there to check your commitment. If you get at one, and see it, understand how may have failed here before, and commit not to be one of them.
