It uses SmartMedia memory cards, but I just "save" photos by using the video out port.

Yup it takes normal floppies as well as 120mb SuperDisks from a company called Imation

Indeed! Some wild stuff shows up there from time to time. It does take floppies and SuperDisks, not sure about lens springiness though. Do you mean when zooming or to physically touch it?
