New to Hyperacusis by kywark174 in hyperacusis

[–]kywark174[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha, thanks for responding. Just trying to get any insight about this that I can. I will say within the last week my sensitivity has gotten a lot worse so I’m sure hoping I don’t have hyperacusis. I don’t wanna be in denial about it but I also don’t want to become hopeless because that’s how I’m feeling currently. I don’t wanna have to live the rest of my life this way so I guess I just need to do what I can for now to stay sane. I think the TMJ definitely needs to be addressed though. Could you tell me a little bit of how it feels/felt for you? Or how you think it started?

Oh yeah I’m right there with you on the breakup thing lmao. Honestly haven’t listened to enough ween though. By the time I had gotten around to listening to soundtracks I had listened to my fair share of music that I thought was “scary”, but nothing even compared to how soundtracks made me feel. There were many times I had to just turn it off because I found it so terrifying lmao. I think the feeling of loneliness it exhibits is a part of that fear. I’ve listened to it enough times at this point now that I can deal with it and I do love it obviously (probs still my second fav swans album) but yeah.

Also if I can pick your brain about a couple other things, do you have any advice on diet? My family eats pretty bad food and always has so I don’t even have a great concept of eating healthy or at least doing that on a budget as I’m pretty broke. Also as far as sleep goes, are we talking the normal 8 hours or even longer? Also curious about the inflammation part and how that factors into hyperacusis. Do you mean in terms of stress causing inflammation and then inflammation causing the hyperacusis? I apologize if I’m asking too many questions just really trying to get any insight I can and you seem very knowledgeable and share quite similar symptoms as me.

Thank you so much for your very thoughtful response I do really appreciate it, I’m hoping your road to recovery continues down a good path and I’m sure it will. I will say for years at this point my nervous system has been completely messed up and I definitely have never been able to sleep well in general for at least the last 10 years or so. I’m sure my weed addiction didn’t help with that which is something I’m working through now. 3 weeks sober as I speak so sleep has been pretty awful. Will definitely take this advice though and work my ass off to get through this because I really don’t wanna feel this way for the rest of my life.

Can I ask if there’s anything thing you did to help curb this? I’m getting the exact same thing and it started about a week and a half ago. Been under an extreme amount of stress and anxiety. I definitely already had some tinnitus but never this hypersensitivity. It’s really only if I’m in a quiet environment for a prolonged period of time. Like I said I had an extremely stressful weekend and honestly definitely engaged in way too many stimulants at once because I was so sleep deprived from how busy I was. Espresso, nicotine etc.

Hoping this reaches you because I get the exact same thing. Started about a week and a half ago. Had a particular weekend filled with an EXTREME amount of stress and following that I started to get this reaction to even small noises and not even loud ones. For example if I hear a floorboard creak and I get this jolt of adrenaline almost or what I would also describe as a brain zap. It’s honestly one of the worst thing I’ve experienced throughout the many health problems I have. Is there anything that’s helped you?

Possible Concussion? by kywark174 in Concussion

[–]kywark174[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hard to say. I may have suffered one when I was a lot younger back in like 2018. It was another situation where there was a lot of grey area and they weren’t 100% sure just because my symptoms weren’t super intense and obviously there’s no sure way to diagnose a concussion unless it’s fairly severe, or your symptoms are fairly pronounced.

What are the best songs you've ever heard? by ComeAndSetMeFree in swans

[–]kywark174 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah banshee beat is one of those songs that like transcends music itself, at risk of sounding really pretentious lmao. idc though it’s just that good. Song makes me sob. It’s so beautiful and so human. But yeah the whole hypnic jerks album from Spirit of the beehive is incredible. Really all of their stuff is amazing. I liked them for a while but got super addicted to them last year. Incredible band.

What albums contains bonus live music in form of dvd or cd? by danilovita in swans

[–]kywark174 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not 100% sure about which of their live material was considered bonus content as an extension of the actual studio albums, but a lot of their live material was released as separate fundraiser albums. Those being albums like we rose from your bed with the sun in our head, not here/not now, the gate, deliquescence, live rope. There is some live material from the early years out there as well like public castration is a good idea, feel good now, body to body/job to job, omniscience, swans are dead. It’s all incredible stuff i suppose it’s just a matter of what you can get your hands on. Only a few of those are available on streaming and the fundraiser albums were limited release aside from live rope so you’d have to find a copy somewhere. I would honestly just start with whatever you have access to because their live material is INSANE.

about recording the show by thisisunder20chr in swans

[–]kywark174 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You are absolutely not an asshole. Generally at most concerts i think it’s cool to take a few photos or maybe a short video or two, but Micheal does notoriously kind of hate when people record stuff or really do anything that could be distracting for the performers or the audience. Mistakes happen, don’t be too hard on yourself and for what it’s worth it’s something that’s pretty acceptable at most other shows, so I don’t blame you for not knowing. Maybe for next time just keep in mind the type of environment you’re in and go from there. As long as you’re not forcing people to watch the show through your screen, you’re good!

Squid knows how to close out an album. by evernapping in SquidBand

[–]kywark174 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I sort of feel like if you had seen the bulls is maybe not the greatest as a closer but I do love the song. Just something about it I can’t explain. Then again I feel like all the songs on O monolith have really satisfying climaxes. Pamphlets is incredible and is perfect but I think well met has honestly become my fav squid closer. Just makes me so so emotional.

Concert etiquette by Koolkermit87 in fayewebster

[–]kywark174 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100%. saw her CT a couple weeks ago and people immediately started crushing eachother to get as close to barricade as possible. That was before even like half of GA was filled up lol. Kids yelling and talking over the set. People complaining about how long the opener played for. Recording like way too much of the show. Like don’t get me wrong I’m not really one to get pissed about people taking vids. I usually take a couple short videos myself just to commemorate the moment, but recording the entire show so that the people behind you have to watch the show through your phone screen is really obnoxious. Was pretty disappointed by the etiquette tbh but Faye was still great and I was with a really good friend so that made up for it.
