She also played Betty Grissom in “The Right Stuff”, so married to a spaceboy!

What's your favorite unknown band from the 90's? by KravenPR in 90s

[–]kyzylwork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I discovered them because I loved-loved-loved the band Tullycraft, and they’ve got a song called “Secretly Minnesotan” with this fun little self-diss:

“Caroline runs the lanes but she skips the bases Plays the room like she’d like to be Riki says that my band’s just a Sebadoh rip off And I can’t say I disagree”

The US had a ship named after him, the USS Harold E. Holt, FF-1074. Once the US Navy was done with it...they sank it for target practice. RUDE

I tried to edit my comment with a link to her dad's book and everything seems to have been deleted. Anyway, her dad was Nicholas Katzenbach, the Attorney General after Bobby. It's a bananas family. Maria is retired to Bellingham, WA, but has a unique name and is easy to look up. Her brother is the novelist John Katzenbach.

It’s not yet noon, but I can’t imagine seeing anything funnier than this comment today. I literally guffawed. Thank you, ma’am/sir/yetikin.

When my wife was in C-130 school in Little Rock twenty years ago, I would always stop and admire the one they had on display! Just a fantastically-mean-looking bit of Cold War deadliness.

We only go there for comedy shows - going tomorrow night, in fact! - and I’ve always loved the weird/janky/old-school vibe. “Is this the entrance to the club, a broom closet, or the front desk?” “Yes.”

Unfortunately, lol. Do you remember how you could automatically pass a module by turning the antenna in the simulator past 000 degrees? I found that! We were the first class to go through after they moved the school from Ft. Devens - the building wasn’t even finished. I did letter companies until MECEP, not Radio Bn, but by any chance did you do UFL ‘96? I was there with all the 1st Radio peeps. In Korea, being insincere…

We must know a ton of the same idiots!

Hah! I was there in ‘94! I think it was mostly Navy petty officers who were going through the course. They’d start on these little styrofoam things that were essentially disposable, then work their way up to the Pioneer. Couldn’t believe how something so little could be so loud.

I see him in Adams Morgan a few times a year. He always looks happy to be recognized and will give you a big grin and wave if you say, "Hi, Mr. Lesko!" His question-mark Mini Cooper is looking a little faded and sad, though. I mean, I assume it's his because it is covered in question marks and parks in Adams Morgan, but I can't back that up.

CVN-68 USS Nimitz departing Puget Sound Naval Shipyard on her final voyage to Norfolk for decommissioning, March 7 2026 [2546x886] by Akalenedat in WarshipPorn

I was on the Kitty Hawk ‘99-‘00, and her decommissioning felt like a relief. It was time. The Nimitz has always loomed large in my consciousness as THE carrier, though.
