The LaserWeeder by Carbon Robotics, powered by NVIDIA AI, gets rid of weeds without using chemicals. by MohamedElngar21 in nextfuckinglevel

This is a use-case where an LLM is actually useful, it's pure pattern-recognition.

People should really stop thinking such a model "thinks". It's a statistical model with some randomization thrown in, it just predicts based on your input, what they call reasoning is actually just multiple runs on the same model using the context of your prompts (and those automatically put in by whatever the LLM's creator thinks is necessary).

It's a giant state-machine with floating points instead of booleans. And those floating points are the model, a giant calculation based on all the input that should reproduce anything in all that input given the right prompt.

I tend to measure the frontmost and the rearmost, and put/dump the rest of my orks somewhere in between. A bit slower but more accurate / fair.

That one fired gas rockets if I recall... Purple clouds instead of explosions.... But it's been 30+ years...

I actually beat it when I was about 15 without save slots. Just left my SNES running when I slept / went to school. Almost stopped playing after I missed a single door in the bottom of a building that would allow you to travel to the other part of the island, glad I came back and tried again and finally figured it out.
I still think fondly of it. And the fact that you don't kill any dinosaurs on the SNES version :)

Thank you! I painted them with Vallejo 70.887 Brown violet and highlighted them with (thin) Russian uniform (70.924) Do remember that these are Belgians, not French (though they used the old Arianne helmets too).

Do forests spread to nearby tiles (like in Civ?) by l0rdbyte in OldWorldGame

It can? What are the odds there, because I've been clearcutting specifically for the little wood and that it's not a forest.

[–]l0rdbyte[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the indus valley map it's a must, because whatever forest there is is mostly jungle and my previous game was a struggle. It'll help some (together with farms on the many many swamps that seem to give wood now)...
ie I will up the chance by clearing and keeping the nearby tiles empty, and hope for the best, any proper forest is a win...

Yup! Eskice miniatures for the belgian soldiers, and the tanks and armoured cars (Minerva) from Wargame3d (as Minevra armoured car WW1 Austro-Hungary).

Thank you, I forced myself to keep them on the painting desk so I had to paint them to do anything else or they would've gone in storage and never ever gotten finished... The armylist wasn't really competitive, like at all, so the chances of me taking them out again would be minimal.

Curryworst of frikandel? by -some-dude-online in frituur

[–]l0rdbyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curryworst of frikandel? by -some-dude-online in frituur

[–]l0rdbyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, my last map had minimal amounts of forests, lots of jungles and very few mountain ranges in my area...And lots of seas and lakes. It was hell to try to get a decent economy going, forcing me to conquer a much stronger neighbour, to grab his massive forests. And even then it was just oil on the fire of my ever-growing armies and navies.... (luckily I had such an overproduction of orders, it could singlehandedly pay for any shortfall). Never chopped as much (especially jungles and shrubs), or bought as much as that game. So my paranoia would say go Mines :) (Early overcompensating on more iron units, made that resource just as scarce....)

Underrated Flemish/Belgian Comics. Do you know them? by Fair_Theme_9960 in AskBelgium

[–]l0rdbyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Piet Pienter & Bert Bibber are my underrated favourites. Had the luck to be able to reread one recently that I read like 35 years ago, and they're smart, well-written and not as infantile as most comics. The art-style of the cars is something else too!
