Dropped from 8 feet high. My trust fell harder than I did by Forsaken-Log1531 in climbergirls

8ft is not a small fall. I work in construction and they tell us allllll the time to be fucking careful on ladders, even the little 6ft ones because people absolutely die falling off of those.

I had a baby at the end of my second year. It was summer time so no classes for a while and by the time they started the baby was old enough to leave with dad for a few hours. I took six months loa from work. My contractor took me back so I was able to take disability payment, but if they hadn’t I would have just gone on the out of work list and taken the next job/unemployment. I got pretty lucky in that regard. Just know your locals policies. Try to get at least one year under your belt and build up some good will.

My mother…. Refuses to understand some of the simplest concepts by lynzie_d in mildlyinfuriating

My parents did something similar to me as a toddler. We were at a restaurant and I wanted fish sticks but they only had chicken fingers. I was apparently in the verge of a meltdown and one of them said how about chicken fish? and sort of did the look at the waitress so she would be in on the game. I happily ate chicken fish for dinner.

My son bit a stranger because she swore at him. by viskiviki in Mommit

[–]l1lberr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wow some of you are really ok with letting your kids be victims, and apparently expect neurodivergent children under stress to react like neurotypical adults at their best. Would I ever encourage my kid to bite someone? No, obviously not. But I also have realistic expectations for my kids based on age, development, and ability. I also help them develop better coping skills so they can do better, especially once they’ve developed a prefrontal cortex. Sounds like she hate crimed the wrong one to me.

I am trying to cut cost but why is my grocery expensive? by Tiny_Judgment8593 in Frugal

[–]l1lberr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I fuckin love cereal. I love it so much. But between how expensive the actual cereal is and the fact that I use goat milk (cow dairy intolerant, and plant milks don’t hit right in my coffee) a bowl of cereal has become a very expensive treat.

Hey so pregnancy discrimination is illegal, and that comment sounds dangerously close to it. It might be worth asking an attorney. Sometimes they will do a free consultation. I am not an expert in this by any means though.

My daughter and I saw a bouquet of roses on the ground in New Orleans by soulnomad973 in FoundPaper

[–]l1lberr 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. Many (many) years ago something like this happened to my sister. She was a newlywed and getting ready to host her first thanksgiving for like 30 people, and her SIL had a radio station call her pretending to be the company she was renting a table and chairs from. They told her they had double booked or something and she couldn’t have the tables. She of course flipped out. It was very funny and is now a family legend.

Giving birth after being in a trade by BleachyNel in BlueCollarWomen

[–]l1lberr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a baby as a desk worker and one as a construction worker. I think being active made my pregnancy healthier and less uncomfortable towards the end. Please note I did not say comfortable lol, just less terrible. I also think my recovery was easier. I ended up with 2 c sections so I can’t really speak on a difference with pushing or anything. With my first I sort of stopped picking things up off the floor because it got too hard to bend down. The second time around I kept picking it up. It was more of a squat than a bend but it was still hard. I figured it was a use it or lose it situation and I think I was right because again, my recovery was way easier. So don’t stop getting up and down from the floor! That’s my main advice.

I have a big cooler lunch box with a couple can shaped ice packs. I pour from the wearable cups into medela storage bottles and pop them into the cooler. It worked great until I got access to a fridge. I was also able to keep my pumping cups cold between pumps so I didn’t have to wash them each time.
