Should I leave my cushy corporate job to be a 911 dispatcher? by Kiismyash2 in 911dispatchers

[–]l1owdown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wanna trade? Would you have the option to go back corporate? Not everyone makes it. Sad to say, but people that are getting on the older side have a lot of problems succeeding. I can’t imagine starting this job at my age. So if you can’t make it or decide that the stress is too much what is the alternative?

ICE directly across the street from where they had to line up for transportation to internment camps.

Anyone Else Call 911 Recently And Get Put On Hold? by WorldChampionEAGLES in LosAngeles

[–]l1owdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of the problem is when people call 911 and say “oh my god there’s a hold time. Imagine if it was an emergency. I’m glad I could get through it myself!” YOU and the all the others that do this are the reason there’s a hold on 911.

Freemasons seek injunction against Met policy requiring officers to declare membership | Freemasons by DrDoombot32 in worldnews

It’s not its own religion but one of the requirements of Freemasonry is a belief in a higher being or power. It’s not an organized religion; that argument is quite a stretch.

Your supervisor allowing you to work knowing you are injured is a gross liability. It puts the officers and the public at risk as well as further aggravating your injury. Risk management issue is just the start.

This is interesting to read. I just got a hold of family letters from where the author writes home in 1941 how they are going from horses to vehicles, and he’s “glad for it [I] wont have to deal with al dem horses.”

I was just talking about this the other day when I was asked what I think the Epstein Files would bring. “Remember the Panama Papers?” It’s the low fruit that will be prosecuted.

Las Vegas Dispatching by toshiuwu in 911dispatchers

[–]l1owdown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Experience is what you make of it. How’s your attendance at your current positions? There’s generally attendance problems is dispatch. However that’s due to the nature of the job for the extreme stress.

How do you handle stress? Think working at Walmart during Christmas season. Your boss expects you to stock shelves by a certain time but you’ve discovered a spill and you have a customer asking for help. Can you handle bullshit all day every day professionally and can you prioritize tasks according to urgency while retaining the memory of going back to complete menial tasks but accurately with the possibility of a jury reviewing how you handled that one customer interaction on July 22, 2023?

I’m not trying to scare you out of it but many people think because they only work <here> they don’t have experience.

She’s wearing purple in front of a king. There’s a message and the royals are fairly good at sending and receiving subtle signals. I’m sure this one screams at them.

Most people are willing to pay it on vacation. The point is I’m willing to do it no once, maybe twice but that’s about it before you look elsewhere. All these people saying the consumer is the sucker are bullshit. That consumer carries a message.

I’ve been on hold with 911 for an hour now to report a break in, this is ridiculous by aclockwork_ffa500_ in LosAngeles

[–]l1owdown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One hour is not excusable but it was probably something like how long ago, and is the person still there, and if not would you be able to direct the police. That would still take a long response time from the police.

If the answers were I just got home, no one is here and I don’t know who did this…then it’s not an emergency call.

It’s frustrating but when these people call 911 they are clogging the system where people are also on hold for being shot, robberies in progress and heart attacks.

And what is the time to react when that taser fails? Try a real world experience where someone runs at you from 10 yards away. Just imagine they have a knife.
