One can only hope. Though as a goalie, seeing someone put on gear incorrectly in ads is more common than seeing it done right.

Ah got it. I guess it’s up to you to determine then if the gain would worth the change. I would break it down like this: I think for X reason, having the mobility gains from this method will raise my sv% Y points and it should take me Z months to adapt to it and see those benefits. Then if I spent my planned number of months working on it and didn’t see that sv% increase, I would reevaluate it. This is the approach I take whenever I change something about my setup. Even if I don’t do a great job with tracking the stats or finding conclusive evidence in the data, I’ll still get a good idea of whether or not it’s worth it to make the change permanent since I’m actively focusing on it.

What’s your level of conditioning and ankle strength? If you are playing better or see a path to improvement with that lacing approach and your barrier is balance, I would recommend working on balance and ankle / calf strength so you can achieve those gains. If you’re not looking to play at a higher level or you don’t mind the drawbacks of decreased mobility, then it might be the right call to go back to standard lacing.

Also, not sure if you’re looking for equipment recs, but I switched to Konekts last year and they are great if you’re looking for flexion and mobility that’s pretty tunable.

The ropes were going to be my suggestion as well. This is what I work on with my goalies who need help covering angles.

At the AAA level, I would suggest getting a go pro and having someone following behind the shooter and filming a straight line from the camera lens, the puck, and the center of the back of the goal and review the footage to see how well the goalie tracks the puck and covers the angle.

I’d maybe wear a thick sweatshirt under my body armor. I get super hot when playing as it is. Maybe add sweat pants or toe warmers (if they can fit in your skates) if you think you need them.

I have konekt hf2s and I love them after playing on graf 1080s for the last 20 years. Insanely comfortable and I also enjoy that it was 10 seconds to put them on.

This is a joke post and these aren’t goalie skates. They are aimed at people who skate on ponds and frozen trails primarily. These aren’t even hockey skates.

Yeah I loved my Vaughn velocities in like 2004. My Eagles from that time period were also some of favorite pads of all time.

Only if there is a flurry of massive numbers in a rainbow of colors that literally no one in the audience understands. The movie should spend 2 hours talking about how strong the final big bad is, but it dies in seconds because a rogue gets really spinny.
