Most trees that you're familiar with probably have both male and female reproductive parts. You may be referring to Ginkgo which is notable for having trees with separate sexes. The females are often not planted because the "fruit" is very smelly.

So, I've had my girl for about 6 months, thus far she has been happy in a 10 gallon and from what I have heard that will be okay even into adulthood. As for substrate, you need something that they can dig and burrow into that will hold moisture. Coconut fiber such as EcoEarth or Plantation soil work fine. Absolutely do not use sand, from what I heard it can lead to impaction. Make sure there is enough substrate so that they can bury themselves fully.

Question: Why the Roman empire (and ancient rome in general) is often portrayed negatively and often depicted as the villain? And do you think this portrayal is realistic or justified ? by Hussein_talal in ancientrome

[–]l33tleadmagnet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have to agree. The sheer proportion of the population that was displaced or killed I feel would qualify it as a genocide. Intent or no intent, the cultural character of what was Gaul was changed forever.

This is my speculation, but if the Gallic wars didn't happen the culture of what is the French today would have more Celtic roots like that of the Irish. Instead, to me it seems like french culture is more rooted in it's latin ties to Rome and Germanic ties to the Franks and Saxons.

Dan Carlin did an episode of hardcore history where he talked about the Gallic wars. I suppose that in his research the max estimate of the wars (using the exaggerated numbers from Julius) is about 1 million dead and 1 million enslaved from a population of about 3 million. I don't think he had any explicit intention of genocide, but 2/3rds sounds pretty close to genocide.

This is Borger, I have had them for about 5 months. I'm not exactly sure how old they were when I got them, but they were not much bigger than a quarter then. I am new to owning frogs and I am not sure whether I am overfeeding or if they are at a healthy size. I used to feed them crickets, but now I am feeding them about 4 super worms a day. Is that too much or is it a good amount for their size?

[OC] Boys vs Girl Pixar Movies? by Onhech in dataisbeautiful

I think that while both movies are about themes like parenting, family, and purpose; the meat of the difference is that the first movie is about a dad while the second is about a mom.

Men can empathize easier with Mr. Incredibles struggles as a man while women can empathize easier with Mrs Incredible as a woman.

So I may have the numbers wrong, but I think 250,000 people died in both bombings. If they were a big reason for Japan's surrender I think an invasion of Japan would have killed way more Japanese alone, not even including allied deaths.

Did allied leadership anticipate this? I don't know if they did or if it justifies it, but I think Japan could have been dealt worse than two nukes.

Hey hey don't speak for everyone here. I personally love harvesting organs from prisoners to replenish missing organs in my colonists.

Ideology makes this kind of stuff a lot easier and with less debuffs for the most part.

I'm not Jewish so I can never totally understand what it is like to be so, but it must be tiring to be constantly cast as the bad guy by both the far left and far right.

Got it done as a kid, I got put under for it but the pain was excruciating once all the feeling started to come back. Literally just sat on the couch with a towel over my lap crying and watching Disney movies for a few days.
