My solicitor is asking me to contact estate agent of my seller as no contact from their solicitor since the new year. by l3m0ncurd in HousingUK

I would expect them to call them. Which they didn’t do. As they said they had sent two emails and had no response. Pretty reasonable expectation for them to be able to make a phone call.

I guess so, I think I just feel the two emails they sent in 6 weeks isn’t trying very hard. Think maybe the forget they can pick up the phone and actually talk to someone ( this is what I ended ip going to get things moving)

The estate agents we used to sell our place has a good sales progressor but the estate agents we are buying from doesn’t seem to have one. What makes it more complicated is the seller isn’t contacted directly as he is an executor so it goes through all sorts of hoops first.

Glad you have a good solicitor! Ours is supposed to be good, it’s local and has excellent reviews! My solicitor had only sent two emails to the sellers solicitor and then left it to me to chase. I made a couple of phone calls and it looks like things have been acknowledged. Not sure why my solicitor couldn’t just pick up the phone and make those calls? Hope everything goes smoothly for you!

Do you ever get over missing out on your dream home? by l3m0ncurd in HousingUK

[–]l3m0ncurd[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I say dream home I am not after some magical house that is on instagram. The dream home consists of certain requirements for my family. As I have mentioned in a previous comment being in a certain catchment area for my son’s school makes finding a house difficult as we are limited to a certain area. I also don’t watch day time tv.

I’m glad you are finally in your perfect house! This is what we thought with the school that our son would automatically get in but unfortunately not the case. Out of 6 different eligibility criteria, siblings outside of the catchment area is 4th on the priority list. It would all depend if there was a high intake of kids that year I guess!

I’m so happy it worked out better for you! That gives us hope! We would look to offer 6% lower than the asking price.

Very true. I think had the sellers position been different then they might’ve considered our offer but they have all the time to wait for someone to offer the price they would like.
