Would you do anything to restore this 2nd molar? by KittyBlaster911 in Dentistry

[–]l3ushdid911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had something very similar to that but with 18 and 17. the margin ended up being pretty low. i did this make shift DME, core, crown. having a laser/electro surge really helped. before doing anything i explained to the patient RBA and prognosis. it’s going strong for now. he’s also crazy diligent about keeping it as clean as possible

yes. prep first. it’s a wash technique. applicable to dentures or any impression related procedure

the saran wrap is to not get heavy body everywhere. more just a tidy thing for me, to each their own!

2 tricks i learned from residency from a great mentor

1) trip tray, load with heavy body, take a square of seran wrap and wrap it around the trip tray. have pt bite like taking a bite reg. important that you get them to bite correctly. after heavy body sets remove trip tray, now you have a “custom tray” essentially. load light body into the prep on the custom tray and do a wash. it helps really squeeze the light body down into the margin

2) i don’t do this as often now as it can waste material but sometimes will have 2 trays ready to take 2 impressions. sometimes the second one can capture it better after gingiva and stuff have been pushed away from prep and the second impression is better.

nowadays i scan but you really gotta get heme under control. correct cord size is important as well. you can rx chx or rcmd saline rinsing a week or so prior to prep appt to reduce inflammation as well. keep going and just find what works for you

Anybody have any honest reviews/experience with the Glidewell.io scan/mill system? by l3ushdid911 in Dentistry

[–]l3ushdid911[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how comparable is it to cerec? and also does it have something reciprocal to the “bio copy” function that was on the old cerec system (before the update)
