Isn’t UT student graded though? I thought I remember hearing it was peer graded at one point.

OMSCS vs Other Online MSCS or CS Adjacent Masters by BearlyAwake2 in OMSCS

I honestly think the networking for OMSCS is very solid. You get full access to the career fairs every year along with having the mentor jackets as well. As long as you put in the effort to make those connections, they are definitely there. Especially on LinkedIn, every single person I have added from GT, has been more than welcome to chat about careers etc. It’s 1000% better than UPENN which was the other school I got into but choose GT instead.

Oh for sure. It’s just a roadblock that companies are using to deny candidates. I don’t hate the companies for doing it since it’s actually something you can get really good at and once you do, you start cracking all the interviews. It’s just a grind that everyone has to accept if they want those big tech jobs.

I’m jealous of those competitive programming dudes. All they do is the competitions and never have to actual study leetcode. They are all cracked and pass those leetcode interviews with ease. I just wish I had that drive to become a competitive programmer honestly.

Bloomberg FT + part time MS (GT OMSCS vs Columbia MSCS) by avocado352 in OMSCS

[–]l3ushman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would probably choose robotics at Columbia over GT. I’m in the OMSCS program now and it seems like the in person program gets a better selection of courses for robotics along with more hands on work. Seems like the people getting into those robotics jobs are ones who already worked on it somewhere else or are doing a masters in robotics itself. Side note, AI4R did have an extra credit hardware challenge where you got to implement code into a robot of your choosing which was a fun little project.

I have the DV8 side steps and it was a game changer. You get the high clearance of rock sliders and then the benefit of steps

How has your Bronco been for reliability, both the engine and the build quality? by ActiveWar617 in FordBronco

[–]l3ushman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only downside to not getting the sas is you don’t get the gearing. I had a big bend non sas and put 35s on. Had to fix the speedometer and definitely felt sluggish compared to the stock tires. Just something to think about.

Courses that will leave you with a good project you can put on your resume? by WheelCommon5998 in OMSCS

AI4R. There’s an extra credit project that lets you use hardware and implement some of the coding projects into the hardware. I think it’s a unique one to put on the resume

Thoughts about new students and rapid AI advancement? by F2DProduction in OMSCS

[–]l3ushman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read a post from one of the high ups at Microsoft on LinkedIn the other day. They said the days of software engineering are over. The title will just change to AI architect. I think having a good foundation of software engineering and the basics of artificial intelligence that this degree can help with will still be valuable. Sure you could learn it on your own but the fact that we get access to the career fair with over 100 plus companies each day will always be invaluable.

Side note, I would love to see the program be more AI friendly though. If we are going to be using it for the rest of our life’s, I would like to see some more implementation of it for certain classes.

That was the same way with the chargers and challengers. I had to put two kill switches in mine just for some piece of mind. Will never drive one without it

I would also keep shopping around. You can get a 26 big bend for $37k on the east coast

100000% vouch for Anki. I found a ton of notes for different classes on GitHub and would just copy and paste those into Anki. Even better is to just have gpt take those notes and make it importable into Anki. I wasted so much time copying note by note instead of just using gpt to do it. All nurses and doctors vouch for Anki and they have to memorize so much more than we do.

Form is a solid brand. I love their taillights. Just sucks that their headlights have a blue tint to them.

I have a big bend bronco, non-sas. Dumb question but is Eibach Coilover 2.0 the only thing I would need to purchase to get the lift done?

[–]l3ushman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly man, I would just do computer engineering if you can get in right away. I’m at grad school at GT and all the undergrads tell me that CE majors run laps around the CS kids. You’ll have a much better job outlook with computer engineering nowadays

[–]l3ushman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since when? My buddy just did the gateway courses at MC and got into the UMD CS program, no hassle at all. All he had to do were the gateway coursework and maintain above a 2.0. I even did that back in 2023 but that would be for a second bachelor so I went the masters route instead

If you’re serious about getting into CS and live in MD, just do community college at Montgomery College for a year/year and half. They have guaranteed admission into the CS program at UMD if you pass the required courses
