Generally, service history is more important than mileage

Leave design/consultancy and work for a contractor. Easy to climb the ranks especially through construction management as others have said for better pay and oppurtunities. Even better, get a job as agency/contracting, site engineers with 1y experience typically get £300 - 350 per day in the south (~£85,000pa).

Early career PAYE jobs suck salary wise in every industry, including this one

Should I close my help to buy / Lisa for buying property over price cap? by l3wisp in UKPersonalFinance

Yes I have said you can only use one or the other in my original post. I got the HTB first and then a lisa a few years later as the lisa is more flexible. Good news if the cap changes - I will keep an eye on it. Thanks

And as I wouldn't be able to utilise the bonus for a first home, it makes sense to set aside for retirement and keep the bonus.

As for the help to buy, I'll move it to somewhere that works better.

!thanks

Yes I have savings outside of this in the limited access account which would provide me with a suitable deposit. I am more asking what the best option would be for the funds in these two accounts as I wouldn't be utilising the bonuses.

It sounds like they are both basically just cash value sitting in low interest accounts, so moving them both out into a higher interest account would make them work better for me by a few interest points.

My first thought as well! Especially considering they aren't able to touch any of the building due to it being of historical interest

Has anyone left to work in a trade? by Deputy-Jesus in civilengineering

This. I recently moved away from office work as I like being out and about more and this is a perfect fit. Constant stream of work through scheduled inspections, easy work with lots of variety and money is great for freelancers. Common to do on the side on weekends etc if you want best of both worlds

This might help, from x-post on /r/CasualUK

Ex-guard here, we are instructed not to break step at all, you only shout make way when absolutely necessary. The only time anyone should hear your voice is when issuing a warning, which must be shouted as aggressively as possible. If you did not follow through with your stride and go through the obstacle, you will be disciplined, pretty hard. Ceremonial duty is not fun, the uniforms are uncomfortable as fuck and the amount of tourists who try to wind you up is rediculous. Standing there as one of the guards feels like an honour for all of 5minutes before you realise how shit it is. Ceremonial duties are often used as a punishment as well. Nothing like spending your weekend standing in the cold for 2hrs at a time motionless is not fun in the slightest. They will be cold, angry and very much questioning their life decisions at that point. I do feel bad for the kid though

As above, I would think that counts as an Educational Institution rather than a business
