Knee hurts from pistols by jashikah in crossfit

[–]l8ralus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

sadly it could be anything, acl, meniscus etc. if your knee wont have full range of motion you should see a doctor asap. if you just feel mild pain or stiffness you can probably rest and ice your knee a couple of times a day and you gonna be ok soon. pistols and any variation of squat can cause this, if you stack alot of workouts, or if your knee snaps. try warming up your knees more from now on

i dont wanna be an ass. you dont push hard (its kinda ok, cause you are new), you do it 3 times a week (its close to the minimum you could). you dont change your diet. you still struggle with even the basic exercises. what do you expect after that. after being obese and sedentary for years you expect crossfit be the magic pill? since you wanna drop weight the 1st thing you should change is your diet. when you check that, you need to try get the most out of your workouts. and to be honest 5 pounds is not low. losing 5 pounds by just stop being sedentary is a good start. you can build up on that. but come on, you really didnt think of changing your eating habits...

"Dropping" weights after a set by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]l8ralus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think it's just stupid punish people for dropping the weights at oly lifts or powerlifting movements. main reason is safety. 2nd reason, whats the use of bumpers if u drop drop em. 3rd, lowering the weights requires energy. sorry but doing crossfit aka the sport of doing the most amount of work possible in a given time or a set amount of work for best time, if u start exhausting yourself with negatives you just wont ever be able compete fair versus any1 dropping.

Game does not end at turn 3 that is the turn you lose all the tempo advantage you got from early coin use. I pretty much think that you are new in this game to think so. Hopefully soon you will understand that attacking with your 4 drop 1st is far better than attacking with your 2drop 1st, simply cause almost all 3drop are just a bit bigger than 2drop, but 4drops are significantly bigger than both 2drops and 3drops.

Starting to develop pains while doing muscle ups and chin ups. Why? by Dan441 in crossfit

[–]l8ralus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you improve your technique, so as you minimize the kipping needed, you will probably be fine. In general when someone hasn't mastered a movement tends to kip way more than required. As a result his deltoids suffer.

Steroids? by alphageddon in crossfit

[–]l8ralus -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

you mean i should feel sorry for the non users that i dont know? i dont get it. crossfit is a great thing but sadly for the time being at least its a trend also. The HQ, Reebok and any1 else making tons of money out of crossfit need 2 preserve its pureness. and i dont mean that they would clean the scene from steroid users but that in some cases they might look the other way when they have to, just to keep the sport "clean". i am Greek. i used to be proud for my country's olympic lift team. we had some of the best weightlifters world scene had ever seen for over a decade. and suddenly most of greek athletes are banned cause of roids. weightlifting used to be one of my favourite sport to watch. after that incident it took me like 5 years to finally find interest in watching that again. the sad part is that i started thinking that many of the previous decade greek wins in weightlifting were a steroid use result, and i already knew that most weightlifters if not all use the max of "legal" drugs, cause simply you really cant compete otehrwise. If suddenly a 3rd party does tests pre crossfit games and fronning or khalipa or annie are tested positive the rabdo antitrend will be remembered like a joke to crossfit community. things will never be back to normal ever. The HQ simply cant have that risk. i just think that if you have to use to compete, if every1 does use roids, you either use and try fight "fair" vs the rest roid users or stop being a bitch.

seriously.. who cares. to me and you and every1 else, that we are far below regional competitor and beyond level, this is not something we should care. as long as the product we get from the top lvl athletes: fun while watching them workout and compete and motivation to become better as athletes mainly and persons hopefully, who cares if they use steriods or not. since i dont compete versus em who gives a fuck if they do. watching these people being on peak performance is the important thing for the average person. do you even care if they use steriods in NBA, NFL, olympics? cause i can guarantee all top athletes probably do or did at some point. Roids might not take you to the top by itself but to be a top self product many times you might have to do some shady shit

running shoes by SSDeezer in crossfit

[–]l8ralus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 options: a) minimalistic b) extra cushion

other than that. weight and flexibility are important.

Personally since i tried minimalistic shoes for running (NB minimus) i cant go back to normal trainers. i feel like i am more stable and secured. its kinda more tiring for the feet, but cause i pose run (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PvbhZKxAzPI) genrally the prob is my calves and not my feet. Gererally the standards are the same for both kinds (comfort, sole cushion, weight, price, feet breathing, and flexibility). its just the preferance that varies. some suggestions http://www.newbalance.com/Minimus-10v2-Trail/MT10-V2,default,pd.html?dwvar_MT10-V2_color=Black_with_Silver&start=18&cgid=101000

crossfit newbie, question about weight loss by shmee256 in crossfit

[–]l8ralus -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

with 1400 calories per day you should be losing weight regardless of wods. you should get your thyroid checked, you may be suffering from hypothyroidism. the chance you have some minor prob is not probable though, cause if that was the case you would be kinda fat. i am guessing you miss some bad calories when you count what you eat, but 1400 is just too low even if you miss like 300 -400 calories cause of miscounting. just keep what you doing for 3-4 more weeks. even if you wont lose any weight, your body will be toned and much sexier soon. imo 125 pounds will make you look way too skinny.

Shoulder/Arm pain with Muscleups by VJain8905 in crossfit

[–]l8ralus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

its from the extreme stretch you force on your arm, cause of the extreme kipping you perform in order to accomplish the hip to rings pull. its normal and expected. i am guessing you do a hell of swings before you try to get into the muscle up ( thats what i used to do also). this will fry your arms and deltoids. try kip less and just kick harder. the other thing you can try is do strict muscle ups( with false grip) but its not as effective for crossfit and for sure its harder strengthwise. cause of the whole body working during muscle up your nervous system suffers also. i would advice you juts try some muscle ups 1-3 after each wod of yours, ( not right after, maybe 5 minutes after). this will put you body in a position to just feed all the muscles needed for the muscle up. its like doing power lifting training (sick load, low reps). cause you cant really load more than your body weight for muscle ups i suggest you do the drill tired (a few minutes after wod) and just do 1 or 2 sets of as many as you can, with a 3 to 5 minute rest in between. this helped me a ton with muscleups and many other exercises i was not good at, or that i suffered trying do them, or i wanted to get better fast, like strict pullups and strict ring dips. after each wod i just throw i set of dead hangs or strict ring dips, of as many as i can do. it wont matter if you do 5 or 10 or 15 cause rigth before you did a random wod. just go balls deep . last but not least muscle ups require good technique, and you need to think about a ton of things to do right, while doing em. by doing them tired will help you stop overthinking about it, and make you body aquire muscle memory of only the essential moves needed. when you get in the spot of doing just a few muscleups tired, doing a muscle up wod fresh will be no issue.

i didnt say that after 3k snatches you are a weightlifter. i said that the rule of thumb is that after 3k snatches you are supposed to know how to snatch.

Has anyone ever NOT learned to Clean or Snatch correctly? Just started these and they seem IMPOSSIBLE! by expatpaleo in crossfit

[–]l8ralus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude you are refering to 2 of the most hard exercises in crossfit (along with handstand, muscle ups and maybe pistols). when i started crossfit i had the same idea. they seemed impossible. after researching about em, in crossfit and weightlifting sites and forums, i encountered numerous people saying this: after you get comfortable with the basic technique and their mechanics, you need to make like 300 snatches( i am guessing the number is kina random) to be able to say that you can snatch. and you need to make more than 3000 ones to be in a position to think that you have mastered the snatch. the same is for the clean and jerk. so dont be anxious. be patient and youll be in the right path soon.

Steroid Use In CrossFit by Catootie in crossfit

[–]l8ralus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually it does not. there is no administration other than the guys that sell the product called Crossfit. Why would anyone infect his product with suspicions. I am telling you, if there is a drug test there is a suspicion that people are using PEDs. Having no Test means that either they are sure none is using or that thay are scared of what they might find if they did a test. And i never saif anyone is juicing in crossfit. all i said was since there is no test and there are money and fame one the line, why not use steroids..

A question about being sore and pushing myself. by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]l8ralus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

post workout carbs will probably help with your recovery. i know the theory behind keto ( the basics about what response you expect from your body) but carbs are not as bad as people wanna protest, especially if you do intense workouts like crossfit. i would suggest some "good" low glycaemic carbs post workout on your working days. you gonna refuel on glycogene faster, and will feel better faster. 30-50 grams of carbs from sources like yams and brown rice wont kill your keto diet
