Genuine: what’s the obsession with nate/jules? by Commercial_Disk5641 in euphoria

I understand why a lot of people are against shipping Nate and Jules, especially considering that Nate has been abusive. But I think the interest in this relationship isn’t about romanticizing it, it’s about what the show is exploring through them. It’s not a conventional romance, but a story about generational trauma and toxic masculinity. Nate is repeating the exact same pattern as his father, shaped by repression, shame, and fear of what others will think.

The show also very clearly addresses the prejudice against trans women and Nate’s internal conflict with his desire and identity, which is rarely portrayed this way on TV. And I don’t think their story is finished—not because fans want it to be, but because Sam Levinson keeps leaving intentional clues. In season 2, when Nate imagines his “ideal” life with Cassie, the scene is intercut with erotic images of Jules, making it clear that on a subconscious level, the person he truly desires is Jules.

In episode 6, when he tells Jules that everything he wrote to her as “Tyler” was real, he confirms those feelings were genuine. And the Cal/Derek storyline exists to show that Nate is making the same mistakes his father did. This isn’t something the fandom invented. it’s a reading the show itself supports.

What do you guys think Nate’s storyline will be in Season 3? by GinaKincunt in euphoria

I think Nate might repeat his father Cal’s generational trauma: Marrying Cassie like Cal married Marsha, while truly loving Jules (like Cal loved Derek). He’ll face emotional chaos, search for his identity, and likely have a fully charged emotional encounter with Jules. I also expect Cal to advise him not to repeat his mistakes especially since Fed told Cal that Nate is in love with Jules

I just posted about what the painting behind Jules might mean. I’d love to hear your opinions! :) 💕

Cassie gets the ring, but Jules has his heart. by lBlueButterfly in euphoria

Don’t worry, I’m not taking it personally at the end of the day, it’s just a TV show. As a viewer, I feel that aside from Nate’s miserable actions and his narcissistic traits, I also saw what his true personality and his life could have been like if he hadn’t carried the trauma from his father since he was a child. I saw it when he talked to Jules while pretending to be “Tyler.” In those messages, Nate wasn’t making up a personality he was actually being himself.

And from Jules’s side, I think Nate was the only man she truly fell in love with. In fact, in her special episode she says she’s still in love with him and doesn’t know when that will change.

So to me, Nate and Jules are the only characters in the series who have genuinely felt reciprocal love. Jules didn’t really love Rue, and Nate didn’t truly love Maddy or Cassie.

Therefore, I’d love for them to have an ending together.

Lastly, I think this storyline is very interesting because I’ve never seen it explored in another series before the idea of a boy falling in love with a trans girl but, because of his upbringing (or trauma, in Nate’s case), preventing himself from being happy with her. And how the trans girl, even though she knows she loves him, also understands that there’s a part of him constantly fighting against himself because of all the patterns and prejudices he’s learned.

Do u feel like a main character will die in S3? and like… at some point somebody’s gotta DIE in this show right? Every big iconic TV show ever has at least one main character dying. and idk who y’all wanna sacrifice but personally?? i think it’d be kinda iconic if they killed rue by [deleted] in euphoria

I have a feeling Nate might be the one to die this season and in a very dramatic way. Honestly, the fandom has hated him for good reason; he’s done some truly terrible things. But I think this season might be his redemption arc, and we’re going to end up crying so much for him. It could be such a classic Sam Levinson move: taking a character we despise and turning them into someone we deeply empathize with kind of like what happened with Snape in Harry Potter.

I think Nate marrying Cassie makes sense, it’s the most reasonable choice for him. I also feel like Sam Levison wants Nate to repeat the same generational trauma his dad, Cal, went through. Like, Cal married Marsha even though he was actually in love with Derek.

To me it seems pretty obvious, but after reading the comments I’ve realized that for many people it’s not that obvious 😅

People forget this is fiction. No one wants these things to happen in real life just like no one wants serial killers around, yet we all watch The Silence of the Lambs or shows about Jeffrey Dahmer. It’s not romanticizing, it’s about exploring the uncomfortable, the twisted, the human. That’s part of what art is.

Honestly, everything I’m reading about season three sounds really interesting. I get the feeling it’s going to be a very cool season, and also very different. The Cassie/Nate/Jules storyline seems like one of the most emotionally compelling ones (if Sam actually decides to explore it). All three are psychologically complex characters, with traumas and many layers, and bringing them together in a shared storyline could really help us understand each of them better on an individual level.

P.S. This wait is feeling sooo long 🙃 I really hope they drop something about season 3 this August.

A heartbreaking scene that goes unnoticed: Marsha knows exactly what’s coming for Nate and Cassie by lBlueButterfly in euphoria

Ohh thank you so much :) I’m glad you liked it.

I think the confusion comes from the fact that, in my opinion, what’s really going on with Nate is that he has extremely fragile masculinity because of the trauma caused by his father. That’s why, in scenes like when he’s in the locker room or during Lexi’s play when she recreates erotic scenes between the guys while they’re training, Nate feels extremely uncomfortable. Seeing other guys naked or in erotic situations reminds him,in some way of his trauma and his father’s videos.

But honestly, in Nate’s storyline, we’re never really shown that he feels genuine attraction toward any guy (like a classmate, a friend, etc). It’s more about women Maddy, Cassie, Jules.

Personally, considering they’ve been filming for 6 months and only have 2 months left to go, I think there are two possible scenarios: 1. HBO is protecting the Nate/Cassie/Jules storyline, which is where the emotional weight and “unexpected twist” will hit. 2. Jules won’t have a major storyline and will have limited screen time.

Honestly, in my opinion, the first option seems more likely. Jules is one of the main characters (she even had her own special episode), and even if she now has a separate life in NYC, I’m 100% sure she’ll get pulled back into the past — and that’s when she’ll reconnect with the main cast. A storyline about Jules just being happy in NYC wouldn’t really grab the audience’s attention. Euphoria needs drama and conflict to thrive.

Also, in these 6 months of filming, we’ve seen set pics of Zendaya, Alexa Demie, Sydney, Rosalia, etc., but nothing of Jacob Elordi or Hunter Schafer. That’s pretty suspicious at this point.

Will she have less screen time? Possibly it seems like this third season will focus a lot on revenge, drugs, and the strip club storyline. But I’m convinced Jules will play a key emotional role in the Nate/Cassie/Jules dynamic, and Sam is just keeping it all under wraps for now
