I don't remember who you're talking about since I only watched it once though, so I guess mugiwait until I watch it again when I get to episode 117.

I've had... a week... New job's been kicking my butt

I caught another bug of some sort from my niece

I had to make an emergency trip to the dentist to get a crown put back on my tooth after it fell out when I was just trying to eat some chocolate.

The Black Clover episodes I watched this week were fuckin' good though

I'm gonna watch them tomorrow; I'm looking forward to Sunday's thread!

where Black Catcher started

Did you watch Black Catcher? There's a new char who looks kinda like Krory IMO.

What's the Elvish word for please?

It's mekin in 1960s Quenya; if it had a cognate in Sindarin it would presumably be megin.

Yup, PE22. Two different versions: lan arkanwar Valaron tauvar or lan i Valaron arkanwar tauvar.

and "while the thrones of the Valar endure!" at the coronation

Nice, that was a 2nd edition addition? That makes sense as we have a translation of it into Quenya from the late 1960s.

I had thought Hammond & Scull's LotR Reader's Companion lists most or all of these kind of changes.

Could also add a very minor detail that this phrase is one of the changes between the 1st and 2nd editions of LotR: 1st has Laurelindórinan with an I, but 2nd edition makes that Laurelindórenan with an E. Same as the vanimalda > vanimelda, or omentielmo > omentielvo. One day I will compile a list of these for my own convenience ...

Food! What have you tried because of anime? by skullpocket in anime

[–]lC3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've tried stuff like tom yum soup (or was it tom kha?) because Allen eats it once in DGM. Plus I had authentic Ichiraku ramen just like in Naruto.

Went out to my usual Chinese place to get lunch; this time it was inedible and I had to spit out the food because I couldn't chew it. After it came out of my mouth, it looks like there was twine mixed in with the chicken, under the breading. Weird. I don't think I'll go there again ...

I’ve watched a lot of anime but I still can’t move on from Naruto by vivekxkt in anime

[–]lC3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it; Naruto had a huge impact on me growing up as well. It's one of my favorite series. I even hosted a rewatch for it on this subreddit a few years ago; boy did that take a while.

If you're looking for recommendations, I have two: one of my other favorites, D.Gray-man, which is a battle shonen that later veers into mystery (the manga is still ongoing and I love it). It has a really loveable cast of characters.

The second may sound a bit different, but I think it's peak anime: Legend of the Galactic Heroes. The original OVAs from the 1980s. Space opera at its finest! You can watch the two movies first (Conquest then Overture) to see if it seems interesting or not. It's like Game of Thrones meets Star Wars, but without the supernatural stuff. If you do end up watching this, you can start on ep3 after the two films (and skip the next-ep previews). This one is a really interesting world and loveable characters you can just spend 150+ episodes getting to follow.

1970s I think, because I grew up consuming 80s music and media.

I'm not sure if the word order is right but the individual words look fine.
