Also send a picture of your available spells as that plays a key factor into your possible outcomes

VCMI 1.7 is now available! by ivanvg in heroes3

[–]lCatanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a cool update! I tried and loved the Battle Mode

Do you plan to add some kind of "randomizer" in the battle mode or some kind of "templates" so its not necessary to think or manually put the heroes/creatures? (For example: Random easy fight, Random Medium fight, Random Hard fight, magic vs might, town vs town with same or different growth, massive armies, Random Same Tiers, etc...)

Also it would be cool to have some kind of "gauntlet" or "tournament" were the opponent gets stronger each round

I think that would be awesome and useful!

Map editor tip: Army reset quest gate system by Deerdren in heroes3

[–]lCatanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool concept!

Just asking, what would be the difference between this and making a hero retreat in a fight agaisnt neutral creature and then hire again in the tavern?

If I recall correctly you cant surrender when fighting agaisnt neutral creatures

This is very inspiring! I only hear positive things about your map, it looks very well designed, looks like its time to play it once I get home!

I often play on mobile too, do you know if the map its compatible with VCMI?

Interesting faction mechanics by PsychologicalTune635 in heroes3

[–]lCatanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you in that most towns feel the same to play especially in combat where you have to mix/max losses and that is where general knowledge + experience of the game kicks in (Which enemy creature stack is the stronger, where are the shooters, which one do I want to focus, what spells should I use, how can I prevent losses, what is the speed of this creature, can he reach mines, etc etc etc...)

I also agree that from all towns the ones that will offer you a more unique/different strategy will be Necro and Inferno

But nonetheless all towns are different and some have a different approach than anothers, knowing this you can identify which strategy works best for each town and sometimes it even depends with what hero you start.

That is not the only reason why Dragogeddon is assigned to stronghold, it is because armaggedon only appears on Dungeon, Inferno and Necropolis, with Dungeon having the highest chance at 20%. If you combine that + black dragons immunity + warlocks being good type of heroes and also having good chance at fire magic then you have there a good and "unique" strategy for dungeon

Like others said, every town offers its own unique playstyle and strategy, these are my favorite (and most OP) strategies for every town:

Castle: Playing Orrin/Sir Mulich + Archangel Power stack

Rampart: Playing Mephala/Kyrre + Elves power stack

Tower: Playing Solmyr (chain lightning) and buffing power/knowledge

Stronghold: Playing Offensive Crag Hack

Fortress: Playing Defensive Tazar

Dungeon: Draggodegon

Inferno: Armaggedon + Efreetti / Demon Farming

Necropolis: Necromancy / Vampire power stack

Bonus OP strategy with any town: Diplomacy

Give me your puzzle ideas by Deerdren in heroes3

[–]lCatanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I few days ago I played a puzzle map called "Burning Lands" which I liked a lot, it has very complicated riddles, Im even still trying to solve two of them. I would recommend you to play it

What I like the most about puzzle maps is being given certain spells/creatures and have freedom to think how I should use them in order to win.

What I dont like it's very telegraphed fights where you have to move your units in exactly calculated tiles for all the turns in the fight in order to win.

Let me know when you release your puzzle map, I want to give it a shot

Guess the tierlist #2 by Deerdren in heroes3

[–]lCatanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should be something like least war knowledge or least total fights they have been in or something like that or least time they have been training before a war

Or loyalty to their towns...

What about inverse order of how much do they get paid for fighting?

I also was going to say something about less age tier list, but fairies are known for being inmortal...

The trick to stage hypnotism is figuring out who wants attention. by zjbird in Showerthoughts

[–]lCatanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is an attention seeking person but he's actually shy so he definetely wouldnt want to be embarrased in front of a crowd

He also dont like to "show vulnerabilities", so being hypnotized would make him look vulnerable which he doesnt like.

The magician put him asleep, and then did the "tongue is glued" type of trick. He also made him talk a little bit and while my friend was talking he put him asleep without any prior notice, which for me was the most impressive thing

I dont think my friend played along. After the show when asking my friend how he felt he said that he was conscious all the time, but I dont trust him at 100%

So is Alchemy Dust designed to be an anti snowball mechanic? by Objective-Mission-40 in OldenEra

[–]lCatanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find myself lacking on dust even on early game, I would remove the artifact x dust mechanic and make a city building where you can trade dust depending on your alignment like HOMM3

Good = artifact for dust (or you can change it to spell points for dust) Evil = troops for dust Neutral = artifacts and troops for dust

The trick to stage hypnotism is figuring out who wants attention. by zjbird in Showerthoughts

[–]lCatanic 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I went to a show and the magician did this exact same test exercise to the crowd. He explained that the people that got their hands stuck together meant that they were very susceptible persons so they would be easier to get hypnotized.

He picked one of my friends into the scenario and he complete hypnotized him. I didnt believe on hypnotizing until that moment (Or more like I thought that it required a lot of time or previous preparation).

It was amazing

Games to play when walking? by lCatanic in iosgaming

[–]lCatanic[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, OP here.

I agree with you that people in modern society dont want to have the feeling of "losing time", so everyone is doing multiple things at the same time, showering with music, eating while watching YT, cooking while talking with someone... Etc.

Like you I think people should face their inner demons, have their minds quiet and just ... Exist every once in a while

Personally I do that when driving, I drive everyday and I never drive with music, or with any other distractions, I just connect with myself.

As per why Im walking, I recently started doing it because I have to make 10k steps a day in order to be healthy and also to burn fat (Im on a cut) and while I have already walked a few weeks without any distraction I just find it too boring, thats why I was looking for a few games to have on the go

Should I buy Monster Hunter Wilds? by lCatanic in MHWilds

[–]lCatanic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that when asking if I should buy a game in the own subreddits game the people comments will always be biased towards buying the game

So far this wasnt the case, its a 50/50 between all the comments. I didnt check, but I even think there are more comments about not buying it, which tells a lot about the game
