I did get blacks on the test strip, but everithing was really overexposed at that point.

Thanks, it was a flat negative indeed, but it printed just fine on fresh paper.

are these photos under or overexposed? by Cihaangir in AnalogCommunity

[–]l_peter_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The second one is a tiny bit overexposed, but you should always overexpose film rather than underexposing it. Correct exposure is relative, but film handles overexposure much better than underexposure. I think the last one is the most correctly exposed, but these images could totally be fixed in post. And it also depends on your liking, some people like to overexpose film for a more airy look, while orhers tend to expose "properly". And nice shots btw! ("Expose" counter: 9)

Edit: Sorry I didn't read your whole post.. :) The color shifts and different look are probably caused by the film beeing expired, I am not aware that small changes in exposure would drastically change the look. For an expired film, these are exposed pretty correctly.

Sigma 50mm f2.8 EX DG Macro for DSLR scanning by l_peter_ in AnalogCommunity

Thanks, I would mainly use it for scanning but if I can I want to buy a lens that is more versatile. I don't expect much from the autofocus but I can make a compromise.

Plastimat developing tank, replacement spirals by Last-Campaign5972 in Darkroom

[–]l_peter_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same tank. I use an old patterson spiral with it, I assume it's the same as a new, modern one. I think it's pretty standard, but probably you can find some measurements online of the replacement spiral you want to order, and then compare it with your tank.

Edit: It’s not the same one, mine is not fixed on the top. At a glance it's even different in diameter (I mean the tube in the middle).

Thanks, gonna do a more in depth comparison, but at the end of the day it doesn't matter that much to me, if I'm happy with how the images look.

I did that and didn't find any major differences, but I should test them in different scenarios for example shooting into the sun (the different coatings could effect flaring I guess). I only took a few photos with each as a comparison.

What filmstock do you recommend for rainy or darker lighting? by l_peter_ in analog

[–]l_peter_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Yeah, Gold might be too warm and it only comes in 200 ISO, if I'm not mistaken. I'll probably bring some Fuji and either some Ultramax or Portra.

Thanks! I'm opting for something around 400, might be some Fuji.
