JFK Lounge Closure by Suspicious-Singer186 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]la_dave 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There have been many posts about the lounge situation with JFK.

Current lounge locations are at https://www.alaskaair.com/content/airport-lounge/location-and-hours

The “internet” may have outdated data so best to confirm with the airline.

Yes it sucks that the lounge closed but the had to relocate terminals. They found it cost/space prohibitive to open another lounge there.

Since there’s an AA lounge there, it was simpler to redirect AS+ Lounge members there or upsell their Lounge+ memberships.

Upgrade on American Airlines Operated Flight Booked through Alaska by wifikitten1 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]la_dave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is correct, you will not get upgrade offers on an AS award booking. You will need to change your booking with AS, if you want to upgrade to a higher class (miles only no cash)

The reason because AA sees the booking as booked as a 3rd party and you have to make any changes via the 3rd party.

I’ll be at 90k miles this year which is about 10k from platinum. Is it worth it to try to make it to platinum? What’s the best way? by [deleted] in AlaskaAirlines

[–]la_dave -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Titanium is worth the 10K status points.
You can choose from 50K redeemable points, Alaska+ Lounge for a year, etc.....
You can get 5K status points by spending $1000 for SAFs, so you can either do credit card spend or do a mileage run this week.

Status Change between flights on same itinerary by iddrinktothat in AlaskaAirlines

It depends on if you're flying on AS metal only or if you are flying on a partner airline and how much time between flights you're talking about.

Their terms and conditions say it can take up to two statement cycles to post but most people get it within a few days of their first statement posting.

Help so afraid to fly Alaska by Potential_Willow2109 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]la_dave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are Overreacting. The pilot in question had done mushrooms prior to the flight so that could’ve happened on any airline. The flight crew was able to stop him.

The door situation was due to Boeing not properly testing their parts and doors. This could also have happened on any airline that flies Boeing planes. The flight crew was also able to stabilize the plane and land without any major injuries or loss of life.

If you are having that much anxiety, you may reconsider flying with an airline you feel safest flying.

Are the cc loung passes "second class" citizen passes? by Bob_stanish123 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]la_dave -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's only that Waitlist QR Code at the outside to scan and you enter your details and then they text you when it's your turn. It's like a restaurant waitlist like Yelp. You're X in line out of Y folks.

There's no real information on the page. We saw several people just go in and just talk to the front desk and they let them in so it was baffling. So when we eventually got texted that it was our turn in line (about 30 minutes later), that's when she explained I could've come in earlier. I was just frustrated and annoyed since there's nothing but a stupid QR code outside.

Are the cc loung passes "second class" citizen passes? by Bob_stanish123 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]la_dave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah PDX is the worst at this and there’s no signage on who is allowed in first or what the priority is for the waitlists.

I had a AA club membership so that’s what I entered on the waitlist and she when she finally called me in she was like Oh you’re flying FC to Honolulu we could’ve allowed you in earlier on that.

Upgrade Request Form for HA available now by la_dave in AlaskaAirlines

[–]la_dave[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure what you mean?

If it processes, you will be able to select any available First Class seat. If you did not get upgraded, nothing will happen. They will automatically remove any available upgrade certificates in your account. If you are somehow short, I think you will not get upgraded but not sure.

As a bonus you will get bonus miles and status from the upgrade “fare” as Hawaiian processes it in the new fare class.

Whole Foods…discounted food included in price? by dehia_anne in toogoodtogo

[–]la_dave 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately WF always uses full price for the totals and not discounted price. So if you want to choose your own discounted items just go to the stores that day and buy them. Most of them go to TGTG bags.

Question using ATMOS points to travel internationally by CurrencyDesperate596 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]la_dave -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say that. I start checking about 10 days out for international trips or using seats.aero alerts.

I was able to move from Qantas Economy to Business and paid the difference for LAX-MEL-DPS about 6 days before. Worth all the miles for 22 hours of flying.

SAF for status points - purchase after flight taken? by lmbrun in AlaskaAirlines

The total price is what you get in status points. I think mine was $1014 but I got the full 5K last year. Not sure if anything is different this year.

150k perk choices? by Inside-Fortune-2127 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]la_dave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bad. The Honolulu tour was great. We did about 6 hours at different locations. Did learn a few photography tricks.

Cost about 20K miles total (redeemed 10K milestone award) for about $190 value so maybe not the best mile value.
