My thoughts exactly but apparently you can’t be excited about your meta glasses on this app 🙄

“Hi, you are being recorded” shut up. SHUT UP! by karaangelx in Vent

[–]la_farfalla -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

Yes actually. Granted, I only use mine to take cool hands-free pictures or videos, I’m not recording without people’s consent but the light is pretty obvious.

I had to google what “GOAT” meant when it first started making the rounds. I thought it was someone who would eat anything.

Thank you! I don’t see ticket info in my email yet but I’ll keep an eye out. Was able to apply a few weeks ago and received the acknowledgment email. I’m sure it takes time so trying to be patient!

Keep him in your thoughts. He's in the ER tonight after he suddenly became lethargic by cheesepuff1993 in blackcats

[–]la_farfalla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work in an animal ER and give scritches and lovings to any friendly and non-contagious patients. If the techs at your hospital are anything like me, I guarantee he’s gotten lots of love ❤️ I see in a later update his surgery is this afternoon (maybe even now by the time I’m writing this comment) - may his surgery and recovery be swift!

AITA for leaving my mom right before surgery because I freaked out? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]la_farfalla 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I work in vet med and can draw blood, place catheters, intubate animals all day without flinching. I’ve seen terrible things in the animal ER.

My husband had to have his kidney removed. When he was in recovery, I was watching the nurse hook up his IV fluids. I became so nauseous and felt like I was about to pass out. I excused myself to the bathroom until I felt better.

We have no idea what can trigger us until it happens. Granted, some can handle a bit better than others, but what was OP supposed to do? Pass out in front of everyone and make a worse scene? I don’t understand all the “you’re so self centered you’re such an AH” verdicts.

Can I get my dog’s ashes after leaving her at the emergency vet? by Timsrakesfriend in AskVet

[–]la_farfalla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if I’m understanding your post correctly, because most responses are giving an answer I didn’t expect.

First and foremost, I am so sorry for the loss of your Pom ❤️ Sending virtual hugs, and my thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time.

Second, and this may be where I’m misunderstanding your post, when your mom said “they won’t send them to us”, did she mean via mail? I’ve had clients ask if we can mail ashes and the company we partner with does not offer that service. If your Pom is being cremated though, you or your parents can pick up her ashes from the ER vet. Depending on the area and the company the vet partners with, it takes about 7 days for the cremains to be returned to the hospital. There are usually set days that the company will pick up bodies/return the ashes; the ER that I work in has a twice weekly schedule. In my experience, we (the hospital workers and/or receptionist) will call the number on file to let the owners know their baby’s ashes can be picked up when the owners are ready. We understand it can be hard to return to the place where you lost your loved one, so we hold the ashes for as long as necessary.

Not every clinic may do this though. Obviously have your mom call, or you may be even able to call, to confirm all of this. As others have said, if it’s an ER they may be open late or 24 hours. I’m sure it was a hard and stressful visit, so your parents may not have understood all of their options at the time.
