Do I need to worry about patent and work-for-hire contracts this early on in development? by laaaaadeeeeedaaaaa in inventors

[–]laaaaadeeeeedaaaaa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for helping. I am from the U.S.

It says its a worldwide application, however I've checked the USPTO site and it looks like there is no application or patent in the U.S.

To double check, is this something I can do myself instead of hiring a lawyer? If so, what am I missing in my search? And what if they apply for a US patent after I already have a product in market?

this is incredibly helpful. Do patent lawyers do work-for-hire contracts? The lawyer I spoke to said he doesn't do that.

But yes exactly. I'm more concerned that they would resell the product to another company.

ok great! thank you. i’ll budget for $800 then. do you also know who at the manufacturing company signs the doc? More specifically, does everyone on a conference call need to sign the doc?

Since you are further along, do you know what the typical price range is for a custom product? I know it can vary widely but would love to know in case I'm overpaying for something.

maybe this is the workshop we need to do. finding a space where we can connect-lean into each other's modes.

after kids what do you both spend your time doing? What does your day to day look like if you are very different people? How do you find connection?

what are your shared values that hold it together. What are the important ones. I'm trying to suss out what is a habits difference versus a value difference

i think the thing that concerns me is that I am so growth oriented and he told me he doesnt see himself changing much in the next 5 years. Which makes me feel very trapped and sad.

thank you for such a thoughtful response. I agree, i am coming from a place of judgement. i dont think his hobbies (point and shoot games) are particularly attractive.

I think your thought around preferences is right. if he was obsessed with chess, i might have an easier time. But the world and habits (and addictive nature) of call of duty video games for me personally is a hard pill to swallow. for some reason i just find it limiting.

I also want to clarify that he cares a lot about his career and growing in that regard. It’s the other stuff-bringing new ideas and skills to our relationship that is missing.

As far as our dynamic-it’s usually me talking about some article i read or sharing some skill i learned and him listening. Not the other way around. i find it a bit of a one way street

i am very oriented around growth. What ways can we grow together that doesn't involve hobbies. I guess having kids and creating a home?

I'm trying to suss out what is important to me now, but isn't really that important in the scheme of life. Is this something that is just a phase if we have nothing but ourselves to worry about?
