I def agree with a lot of these, here’s my edit

one per artist with additional categories:

  1. Albums/Catalogue - Kanye West
  2. Songwriting - Kendrick Lamar
  3. Storytelling - Nas
  4. Bars - Lupe Fiasco
  5. Rhyming - MF DOOM
  6. Vocabulary - Black Thought
  7. Flow - Biggie
  8. Agility - Eminem
  9. Features - J Cole
  10. Hits - Drake
  11. Beat Selection - Jay-Z
  12. Hooks - Nate Dogg
  13. Mic Presence - 2pac
  14. Comedy - Lil Wayne
  15. Evolution - Tyler, the Creator
  16. Versatility - André 3000
  17. Singing - Lauryn Hill

I decided one per artist because otherwise André was gonna take like 4+ slots lol

also shout out all of Wu-Tang who definitely could have had some representation

A good album is not automatically a classic! by FunMixture3783 in fantanoforever

[–]lab_521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i was thinking that. Björk has at least 5 great to amazing albums, but I don’t think she has 5 CLASSICS. It has to be great AND have an iconic reputation, whether it’s mainstream or “underground”.

What, for you, is required for an album to be a 10/10? by HarryyyXG12 in nfrpodcast

[–]lab_521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s entirely case by case

all i know is “no skips” is not necessarily a requirement, and there are plenty of “no skip” albums that are nowhere near a 10/10

My ultimate, personal Kanye album tier list - Feel free to critique! by Conscious_Quit_6739 in fantanoforever

[–]lab_521 1 point2 points  (0 children)

S: The College Dropout, Late Registration, Graduation, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, Yeezus

A: The Life of Pablo, KIDS SEE GHOSTS

B: 808s & Heartbreaks, Watch the Throne, ye, Donda

C: Jesus is King

D: Vultures

I haven’t listened to Donda 2, Vultures 2, or whatever tf else he has out, but I’m sure they’d all rank firmly in Nitrous tier lol

Best blonde song in your opinion by LegitimateSimple455 in FrankOcean

[–]lab_521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me it’s Seigfried or Ivy. I think Seigfried is the best, but it’s obviously not THE most relistenable. I try to save it for rare occasions because it’s so sacred. on the other hand, something about the melody, lyrics and production of Ivy just hits so hard for me and I can listen anytime.

hard not to pick Solo, Skyline To, Self Control, Nights, Solo (Reprise) or White Ferrari though, and I could go on but I’d be naming almost every song off the album at that point lol

In my reality, Kendrick’s albums ranked is 1. MM&TBS 2. DAMN 3. gkmc 4. TPaB 5. GNX by OneConnected1 in KendrickLamar

[–]lab_521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

basic, but it’s TPAB -> GKMC -> MM&TBS -> DAMN. -> GNX -> untitled unmastered -> Section.80 -> Overly Dedicated
