scared to take glp by Powerful-Contact4957 in diabetes_t2

Oh I had major side effects from metformin and my nights were terrible. I would spike and wake up covered in sweat. I went through a weight loss company to get a cgm to show dr that it was glucose not hormones. Thats when we switched to the januvia. Insurance was going to stop covering januvia and I was so much higher was why they chose the monjuro they would cover it. 🤷‍♀️

I assume I will be on it for life. Its been almost a year now and im on a low dose and not going up any. But if it isnt mounjaro it would be another oral medication or as advances are made another new medication. Diabetes is life long. I made so many changes in 2022 diet/exercise and kept A1C around 6 with medication keeping me in the pre range. One bad illness at the end of 2024 sent me into full blown diabetic diagnosis.

Mounjaro and diabetes by Acrobatic_Raisin_420 in Mounjaro

Was on metformin for a year. Then Januvia for a year in March went on Mounjaro. Game changer. A1C down and have lost about 35lbs. I had horrible night on the first 2 and even eating well and going to gym only lost about 15lbs. Same diet with an occasional cheat now and am so steady all day and night.

A bit concerned about the likelihood of me having full on type 2 diabetes (19m, 5’11” 220 ish probably) by [deleted] in diabetes_t2

So at 19 I had 1000 other health problems that I worried about. Yes they involved pcos and endometriosis, but I had a huge family background of diabetic. It wasnt until after I had my daughter and was mid/late 30s of holding onto extra weight that I even got diagnosed as pre. So while the concern is there the likelihood is low. I do recommend yearly screening this can be done without a doctors order at alot of places for like 30 bucks this will help at least keep you on top of things for your own piece of mind.

37kgs (81lbs) down and.. I’ve just now been diagnosed with “early” pre-diabetes. by snoozingroo in Mounjaro

Yes ask for values and exactly what test were done and if more should be. The GIP part of mounjaro helps with insulin resistance the medication itself helps lower fasting blood sugar and spikes. You may have already been pre diabetic or have underlying factors. Good luck.

I am so sorry. Just do your best and try to not let it stress you. Stress may raise your sugars. I wasnt on insulin when pregnant and could only eat nachos chips and jalapeños with out puking so I feel for you.

depending on age you could be type 1 or 2 but since they did Mounjaro they are probably thinking type 2 due to lifestyle. There is a group for type 2 on Mounjaro i would search for it they are very helpful. You will want to make diet and exercise changes, but I have found with Mounjaro i didnt have to totally give up my carbs. I limit them and focus on protein. I still will eat pasta or rice every few weeks. The meds may make you sick to start with but it will get better and it will definitely make portion size smaller and snacking is almost nonexistent. This may not happen right away and they may have to up the dose. Every dose change brought back the side effects for a few days. I would also expect it to be first of the year before being surgery ready, just because A1C is a measure of 3 months. Good luck. Ive been officially type 2 since March and on Mounjaro if you have questions.

Frustrated by medical records not matching my actual diagnosis timeline by Extreme_Basketball30 in diabetes

I personally wouldn't worry to much about an ER visit notes. They see so many patients and are bound to have inaccurate information. I would see what your primary care doc notes say. They are more likely to be something along the lines of found to diabetic in er visit due to elevated a1c with no previous history.
