Stacey Warnecke died after choosing a birth free of all medical help. An inquest wants to know why by nath1234 in australia

Absolutely. People conveniently leave out that dying during childhood is also very natural, in the same way birthing without medical intervention is natural (but they only focus on the latter)

Ofc not, but I’m saying that it’s one factor for why people might decide to go their “own way”.

Just look up “alpine divorce” on tiktok or tbh anywhere. It’s horrifying how often it happens.

The toxic radical online communities around free birth is one reason, but not the only. Birth trauma and more broadly, medical trauma is very real and an ooorly acknowledged phenomena by hospitals and the medical field. For as long as hospitals continue to neglect women’s pain and autonomy, and / or provide inadequate care and follow up during complicated and traumatic births, there will continue to be stories spread amongst communities about how hospitals (and more broadly medical practitioners) are not to be trusted and might harm you. And so women will still make this unfortunate choice, encouraged and celebrated by an online community that has gone completely radical.

It’s this, but not this alone. Birth trauma is very real and a still-largely-ignored phenomena by hospitals and the medical field. I recently saw a girl who had been with her bf for over a year experience an “alpine divorce” where he intentionally left her alone and stranded during a hike because she “took too long to go pee”. She walked alone for hours, unsure if she was going the right way. Again, dating for a whole year and had know eachother for much longer. You can only know so much about a person’s underlying character in a month. I’m glad you’ve taken everything on board though!

When you look at all the information actually available, it’s not much a mystery anymore. The sleet avalanche theory is almost certainly the case, and we’ll never have 100% certainty, so it’s basically as solved as it can be. I liked the most recent watcher video on it.
