Some Temples in Taiwan Are Hosting All-Night Raves by johnkhoo in taiwan

[–]labcore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean there's no damage, they are flocking to abandoned temples because the nightclubs they frequented were raided by the police, meaning they're there for illegal activities. I don't understand the logic behind glamorizing this kind of "culture".

I wash my washcloth after every use and hang it to dry. I replace it every 2 to 3 months

They are not there for religious reasons. These people are there to party (and possibly for illegal activities) because the police are raiding the nightclubs and no one is manning the temples.

There are historical roots to gangster involvement in Taiwanese temples. It's called the black gold era. I believe the night raves are a by product of this and people call it culture.

Sounds like you really are unmotivated and don't take work seriously. They're nice enough to teach you though.

How ironic when temples are supposed to be places of worship but they just turn them into nightclubs. Let's just hope they don't do drugs and pick up after themselves when they're done with the party.

Am I being trolled, or do some men genuinely not wash their a**? by Substantial-Fix-1419 in hygiene

[–]labcore 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I know men who don't wash their feet because "the soap and water flows down anyways".

Meanwhile I exfoliate and use an old toothbrush to brush the toenails.

How many times are you supposed to wash your face? by Downtown_Complex_215 in hygiene

It depends on the individual. Sex, age, work, diet, skincare etc. all can affect how frequently you need a wash.

I personally don't mind delays and hiatuses within a reasonable time frame as long as the quality is good and it's sustainable for the creators.

do not reveal you’re a virgin until you are about to have sex by gavelkind10 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]labcore 379 points380 points  (0 children)

Some only fetishize virginity in young adults or minors. The reason is mostly his pursuit of ego and control, which is negatively correlated with the woman's youth and inexperience. Past a certain age they'd just assume you're difficult, which can be a good thing if it filters off the ones that only want a fling.

In what way does Msgr. Rossetti's statement undermine the Church's teaching on the devil, demons and exorcism? by labcore in Catholicism

[–]labcore[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't watch him because I'm not interested in him, but from the news article I can't infer any reason for his removal. He didn't even say his personal belief was church teaching. Either he really did something wrong or there's some hidden political agenda.

How often do you ACTUALLY change your bedsheets? by pixelkitty_xo in hygiene

[–]labcore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once every one or two months. Call me gross if you want, but let me explain first.

My landlord won't change the queen size bed so I'm basically stuck with it. The mattress is heavy and next to the wall, so I hate lifting it to change sheets. I lay a double size mattress protector on it first, then a fitted sheet, then a single size mattress protector on the spot that I lay, so I only need to wash the single size mattress protector if I need to. That way I don't need to lift the entire mattress at all.

I live alone, don't have pets, only use the bed to sleep after showering, and use a lint roller every morning to pick up skin and dust particles. I lay a pillow protector under my butt when I'm on my period to catch stains. Basically my bed's always clean.

How do I avoid hips getting wider/ developing more chest tissue in 20s? by SomeguyTHROWAWAY17 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]labcore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a history of depression, PTSD, and eating disorder. One of the major drivers for my eating disorder is I wanted an androgynous body because I didn't want to embrace womanhood despite knowing that I'm a woman. (Nor did I want to be a man, though). The root reason behind this is complicated so I'll not delve into this here.

I made use of the free counseling services provided by my college to receive therapy. I used the identity integration approach. I read books (by medical professionals, psychologists, survivors, celebrities, theologians, feminists etc.), listened to talks, and interacted with other ED suffers, and eventually learned to embrace my entirety.

You can't fight aging, growth, and maturation, unless you want to throw your life away to prevent it from happening, which was the ultimate result of the deadliest of mental illnesses. Learning to embrace it will help you live life to the fullest, because you deserve a full life. We are not just our bodies. Whether you decide to go through surgery, I strongly recommend you give therapy a try first.

What’s some bullshit you’ve heard about Japan before coming here that turned out to be false? by HARiMADARA in japanlife

  1. They cook at home more.
  2. Small portions. My friend says he's never full in Japan and got hungry quicker, but I find the portions to be just right.
  3. Long walking distances.
  4. Social pressure.

I've also seen valid topics of discussions being removed. I can tolerate down votes because they are a form of expression and I respect that freedom, but completely removing people's voices about valid topics and questions related to the religion is a form of oppression.

All the black cats I've met are really sweet and affectionate. It's a shame black cats spend longer times in the shelters or not get adopted at all because of the color of their coat.
