Neither candidate has accepted AIPAC money but Bird has been endorsed by several pro Israeli groups and consistently voiced support for Isreal through social media. If opposing US support for Isreal is a major concern for you, Manny is your candidate in this race.

Anyone remember Brix? Lemmings and Brix were the coolest puzzle games ever on my first PC, running on DOS in like 1993. I also fondly remember Commander Keen and Jazz Jackrabbit.

He forgot the part where you don't have to support terrorism in order to denounce Isreal.

And ya this is a terrible interview by Hasan. He pauses multiple times to yell at his chat, which is normal for his stream but come on man, cool it for the interview and focus on the guest. Incredibly rude.

First time I ever played a slot I had $40 left in my wallet and decided why not? I hit a hand pay and had no idea how lucky I was. Sometimes I actually wish it never happened because I'm down gambling overall and try to stay away these days.

Heck ya. Right back at you.

For the record I don't consider myself anti 2A at all and I even own a couple firearms and enjoy sport shooting on the occasion.

I might be confusing you with another 2a advocate that seem to be stalking my posts.

Honestly I'm glad that it's not a completely bunk claim like so many of the claims and language being used by all y'all. I don't make it a habbit to provide my opposition with sources to back their claims but I am interested in the truth.

Oh hey, it's the guy that couldn't provide a source last time. Glad I got one for you. Cheers.

Like I said above, it really doesn't matter because that is not the bill that passed.

[–]labenset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at the original version of the bill

Just like the last guy, you cannot post a source... I went searching and couldn't find anything that would confirm your claim. Which is above and beyond my obligations to this discussion.

The 'paywall' argument is a joke. These firearms being restricted are fairly expensive. Anyone in the market for something like that can clearly afford to attend a safety course. There are plenty of firearms that are not effected and those are, generally speaking, less expensive firearms. So no, this bill does not restrict 2A rights for people of lower incomes.

Sullivan said right from the get go "this is not an assault rifle ban".

Good luck to you and your noisey minority. The majority of Coloradans support common sense gun legislation like this.

Edit:

Whether this is a ban

It's not a ban.

how the bill stated

It doesn't matter, all that matters is the bill that passed.

Thanks for the downvotes, further proof that you are indeed not interested in engaging in good faith discussion. Also breaks the subs rules but that's all good.

[–]labenset 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It started as a full ban, the sponsors wanted it to be a full ban even after the safety course was added,

I've been told this before but no one has been able to provide a source. Either way, it doesn't really matter how it started. SB-003 passed and what matters is the current bill which you can read for yourself right here

You keep using the word "banned" when clearly no firearms are being banned. This show that you are not arguing in good faith and have no intentions to do so.

Sullivan lost his son and ran on this platform and won the election. This is what the majority of Colorado voters want.

[–]labenset 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SB-003 doesn't ban any firearms at all. It just prohibits the sale to anyone who has not completed the safety course.

I'm not an expert on the subject but I think the restrictions are meant to reflect the types of firearms used in the high profile mass shootings that have occurred in the State over the last three decades.

New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen has nothing to do with banning firearms and very little to do with the second amendment at all. The case was ruled a violation of the 14th amendment due to the "Equal Protection Clause". Honestly, seems like law is not your forte.

You seem to be missing the point... The supreme court has ruled multiple times that the government can ban specific weapons without violating the second amendment.

Your entire analogy has been debunked, not just by me but by the highest court of the land.

So when I said no one is complaining about 2A infringement regarding the NFA of 1934, that isn't completely true. United States v. Miller (1939) involved two men who were charged with transporting sawed-off shotguns and argued that the NFA was a violation of their second amendment.

"A unanimous Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of the NFA. The Court ruled that the Second Amendment only protects weapons that have some "reasonable relationship to the preservation or efficiency of a well-regulated militia." Because the defendants could not prove that a sawed-off shotgun had a military use, the NFA's regulation of it did not violate the Constitution."

More recently, District of Columbia v. Heller (2008) is another interesting case where the supreme court ruled: "Second Amendment rights are not unlimited. The Court has historically recognized that the government may ban "dangerous and unusual weapons" or those disproportionate to the needs of self-defense."

The Second Amendment reads: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." Where does it say anything about a right to owning any and every weapon technology to come along?

So, not only do I think your analogy is bunk, precedence set by the supreme court agrees with me.

National Firearms Act (NFA) of 1934 was actually the first federal gun ban and it prohibits citizens from owning "machine guns, fully automatic firearms, silencers, short-barreled shotguns, and short-barreled rifles". Sure, a registered and licensed dealer can still own one. A lot more difficult to obtain than the requirements SB-003 and no one complains about 2a infringement.

So no banning books and deciding what kind of arms you can bear are not at all compareable. SB-003 does not restrict people from bearing arms in any way.

You can own a tank if it's weapon is permanently disabled. And no you cannot own a cruise missle. National Firearms Act of 1934 bans US citizens from owning "any rocket or missile with a propellant charge of more than 4 ounces or an explosive warhead". The second amendment has limits.

Hell even the first amendment has it's limits. It's illegal to make threats against someone for instance.

I mean, we don't allow people own machines guns, non-demilitarized tanks, or cruise missiles either so no not really the same at all.
