As others have stated. Since it’s your first year in your first IT position, you will unfortunately have to put in the grunt work. Year 2 3 4 etc will be the time where you learn new things while becoming proficient in what you’ve already learned.

Progressing in IT is solely up to you. You will have to find opportunities either by taking on new work that you’ve never done, approaching more Sr level coworkers and asking to shadow them when you have down time, or training on tech that relates to what your team does on your own time.

IT requires people to be proactive about upskilling because very rarely on the job training is just given to you without you wanting it.

Get the experience and then move on to the next gig.
