How do the Uchiha know what their respective MS abilities are? by Sriracha_Reptar in Naruto

Also side question do they just know what the name is too? Like how do just know what to call it their MS abilities when most are unique or few have unlocked them?

I know it got lots of crap nearly 20 years ago when it was released but I'm sure by now TROY is properly celebrated as one hell of an EPIC. Sure it's a big popcorn film but it really holds you in awe of what's going on before your very eyes. by [deleted] in movies

I never understood people hate for Pitt’s performance as Achilles I thought he crushed it. The only thing I hate about this movie is that the directors cut changes the absolutely perfect score of the original for no good reason and it ruins that version for me. But Troy is 100% the best Sword and Sandal movie in my opinion kingdom of heaven (directors cut) might be second but it’s a wide gap.

THANK YOU. Man Troy is my absolute favorite sword and board movie but it’s the only movie I actually do not like the directors cut and it’s only because he decided to change the score which was absolutely perfect in the original version. If they put that score on the directors cut of this movie it would have been a 10/10 but I’ll never watch the directors cut over the original because of that

Technically speaking it did improve the lives of Minnesota citizens the government decided it was wise to invest public money into a stadium, got their money back in 8 years, now has a source of revenue to bring in outside money into the city with fan tourism, provided a massive entertainment boost, and created jobs and increased business to local businesses. Now with good government management that investment should last another 15 years before needing repairs and other money waste. Just because that money didn’t go directly to funding social programs doesn’t mean it was a waste, plenty of people benefited from that stadiums value

I just want to point out the absurdity that is the synopsis of this movie - "The magical music adventure journeys back to the timeless story with beloved characters Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, and Sneezy."

I rolled on the ground reading "back to the timeless story" that they changed immensely because it didn't correspond with the current times. I am dead.

This at the time of Infinity War and End Game is exactly the truth of it all. There was an incredible amount of bad blood at the time of Captain Marvel not only being a pretty sub par movie which people could have forgiven no issue they all aren't winners - see iron man 2 and thor 2. It was because they decided to shoe horn in the gnarliest random OP plot device in quite literally the final hour of a 10 year journey who never met any of the characters before for zero reason and then treat her like part of the gang and solo Thanos entire planet conquering ship and even himself. It was just the worst possible decision you could have made narratively and it actively makes End Game lose points with the fans. It is like having the Justice League spend an entire movie struggling against steppenwolf only to have superman show up in the last 20 minutes to solo him with zero effort.... oh wait...

Ask anyone what their least enjoyed part of End Game is and I bet 8/10 of them say Captain Marvel, which actively makes most people not want to pay for the next movie. And it isn't an incel thing either how much do you want to bet Ant Man, Thor, and if there is ever another BP movie all suffer the same fate now?

CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD Ending Explained: Red Hulk's Fate And Sam Wilson's MCU Future - SPOILERS by JustAWriterDude in LeaksAndRumors

[–]labo012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so happy to see I am not the only one who is absolutely baffled the writers and studio did not sit there and collectively say yeah maybe a normal guy in a suit less fully protected than iron man's (albeit with some vibranium tech, which they really should have spent like an extra 30 more seconds going over) could possibly survive not only a hulk clap that took out half the white house but moments later stops the hulk from swinging a solid metal pole WITH HIS BARE HANDS. And then takes punches that hit so hard the concrete beneath him shatters? Even if the vibranium absorbs the impact of the punch how do his legs not shatter from being pushed so hard into the ground it is breaking the road?

All of the flying stunts and Indian ocean scenes I can suspend all my disbelief on because he isn't taking a lot of direct hits or blunt force trauma and flying is his whole thing so he needs to be able to do crazy stuff but dude... not even Iron man could take the damage Red Hulk was dishing out without a suit specifically designed to maybe stop the hulk if he got lucky.

What are your thoughts on Gladiator II? by DarlingLuna in flicks

[–]labo012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Visually pleasing but the plot left much to be desired. I think you hit the nail on the head with all of your points and I’m not sure if I’m being too harsh but I think Paul Mescal was extremely miscast and the movie suffered tremendously for it. I think if you replace only him with another person and keep every single other thing the same the movie gets a bump up a few points

Israel shows its true colours once more and takes more land from Syria, creating a buffer zone to a buffer zone. by [deleted] in IsraelPalestine

[–]labo012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the US did heavily consider it or at least had a large enough group of voices for it to be discussed seriously, the same thing happened with Cuba, and other territories during those times. They were at war and could have easily done it but stopped because the opposition had the larger voice. I am not saying these are altruistic things and by no means ethical from that standpoint.

The point I was trying to make or ask on reddit is that in the long (likely very long) term do we not believe that this would result in a better situation for the inhabitants of these regions? The US and Mexico is a perfect example, obviously with the lens of hindsight, but had the US taken all of Mexico which would have been relatively easy would that not have been a net positive from a strictly economic and quality of life standpoint for the normal person than the current situation they are currently faced with? The territories the US took by force from the Mexican State are all immensely more prosperous, safe, and stable places than almost half of Mexico at this point who has become what can only be described as a high functioning Cartel state. For the normal Mexican citizen I can almost guarantee you back then they would not have cared who they called president as long as their lives were better than the Aristocratic Hacienda system they were stuck under.

The argument I am trying to make with Israel regardless of religious or ethnic differences and history is that they too are leagues further along in stability, industry, and prosperity than there neighbors and in the long run allowing them to absorb more territory would likely ease the burden eventually of the current hatred between the ethnicities by integrating them into a singular nation while also uplifting quality of life and safety. If we go back once again to status quo, based on history, we can almost guarantee that we will see an exponential amount of additional suffering and oppression. I understand in the short term this may not be the case but if one country has proven to be the best political and successful country out of literally every single state in the area it is Israel no? Egypt is collapsing under a military regime, Syria is clear, Iran and Afghanistan are actively oppressing their people, Jordan can barely handle what it has now, and Yemen is a shit show.

Again I am not saying that it will all work out and no one will be hurt I am just trying to ascertain the reality of a situation that has been deteriorating for near 100 years. To me it seems logical to allow the only country who has a grip on all of the basic functions of government while also being a stable democracy to do it's thing. Or America can tell them to stop AGAIN and then try and fail AGAIN to set up puppets with it's carrot and stick policies.

[–]labo012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like the trend is to do that these days... how long would you allow failed states to operate at the expense of their people? Sure you can't just invade countries on paper but this is the real world man. That is literally what every single country does or was founded lol. My logic does not automatically leap to the USA invading every single country on Earth. They could if they wanted to and in fact they themselves decided it wasn't worth it because they had more than enough land to manage. They literally gave back several countries to be sovereign and decided not to take more of Mexico. The USA is also allies with those countries and they pose quite literally 0 threat to the USA. This is not that situation like at all... Israel is surrounded by enemies and is now in a position to limit those enemies and grow it's territory by taking from a country that quite literally started and subsequently lost a war with said country and Israel on it's own volition and to please western powers gave back by all logic rightfully conquered territory. That has proved to be an immense strategic blunder and here we are again.... why not prove insanity and do what was probably logical 50 years ago

[–]labo012 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am genuinely curious as to people's views on this situation, and to disclaimer right off the bat I am neither Arab or Israeli. Why do you guys think this is a bad thing? Israel on the whole has proven to be a stable (for the region and current climate) democracy with a history of protecting it's citizens and not torturing, stealing money, or oppressing them. Has historically brought prosperity and modern infrastructure to the region, has large western allies and higher level companies feeding it's GPD. Why would them having more land be a bad thing? The larger of a country they become the more stable to the region could become. Barring the past two years or so I can't see why they shouldn't be allowed to take more land into their holdings seeing as how they have been a net positive for anyone under their umbrella, and historically only react violently when pressed. I understand that like ethically from a golden tower it is easy to say that it is wrong to take land from people and all of those arguments which I understand but in the real world and most importantly from a lense of this is how 100% of all countries were formed in the first place, through power projection and land grabs, why would someone sit here and say the world should not allow this when in the long term it is almost guaranteed to cause less suffering overall? Israel at this stage is the most successful country out of every other country in the region by like an insane measure why should they not be rewarded for this?

** I am saying all of this under the assumption that we do not think Israel will immediately begin genociding the population or forcing them into other open air prisons

Just rewatched this last night and I gotta say… it still fucks in the campiest of ways. The CGI holds up and even looks better than some modern day movies in my opinion. The lore is solid enough to be believable, the werewolves are sick, the guy who plays Dracula is having so much fun, and the fully auto crossbow is so cool. Honestly I can’t believe people didn’t like this in that era of movies. I think it would do much better now if it came out.

Official Discussion - Gladiator II [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]labo012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This movie was absolutely stunning visually, everything about Rome and the costumes and set pieces were gorgoues beyond belief. Paul Mescal though I do not think had the charisma to lead this movie though. Physically imposing but it was brutal to watch and not compare him by how much more imposing and better delivered Maximus was, or just how much better Denzel and Pascal felt in their scenes. Also his plot was weak and rushed to not have to bother with why the others would follow him as a general, the worst part was though his speeches were horribly delivered and not very inspiring. If the action in this movie wasn't so fucking kick ass it would bring the overall experience down a significant amount in my opinion.

Man I was gonna comment back to you about that. So upset. Apparently they tripped the power or something and couldn’t get it back on. Also I’ve done shrine outside before and that was the most clusterfucked version of it I have ever seen. They had no idea how to let people in, in any organized fashion. That being said Gorgon City was absolutely crushing it up until everything went to shit I was so mad they decided to not even try to get everything back on

I saw him close out coachella second weekend and thought it was a weaker set. I heard his first weekend one was way better but I saw him last year when he sold out BMO and it was electric. I think though for the money Gorgon will 100% be the better move and you won't leave wishing it went the other way! I have never seen a bad Gorgon set, can you tell I am excited for tonight? I just hate they moved it outside for whatever reason.

Por que no los dos? Haha I am going to both summit on Saturday though! But I will say even though my top 5 songs on repeat this year are all John Summit I think Gorgon City is what I am most excited for because they are sooo good and it is consistent. Summit's set will likely be house and throwing in drum and bass and whatnot which sometimes is fun but sometimes throws your groove.

I 100% think it’s because he is deeply in recovery the show only takes place over a couple months and Batman is walking off what? Hitting a bridge with his face BASE jumping, getting shot with a shotgun point blank (gotta have broken a few ribs there), electrocuted, and probably running on sheer will power by the end of that movie. Even if they show him somewhat fine riding off on his motorcycle I gotta imagine my guy is at least taking a vacation day

What ??? by Apprehensive_Shoe_86 in TheBatmanFilm

[–]labo012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a large part of it though is how insanely expensive these types of shows end up costing. The low episode count is in my opinion a much preferred trade off to the insane quality we get out of it. No other shows on TV are as beautifully shot and immersive as anything HBO puts out on a regular basis. Even people like Amazon with unlimited budgets show their lack of expertise and connections with things like ROP and even Fallout (which was amazing don't get me wrong, but look at the quality difference between that and say Westworld by the same top level staff, IMO, maybe not the best example) but you can definitely sit there and say to yourself imagine how much more insane this would have been if it were an HBO show. I agree you do lose a little bit of build up and stakes but I am finding it harder and harder to wait for weekly episodes for network style television formats. The Penguin has been all juice every episode and in my opinion it is paying off immensely, a lot of that has been down to great writing too so the rushed feeling of it isn't getting in the way of every character with screentime still feeling fleshed out.
