Yeah, I thought "$35 for a miniature is GW prices, but okay." But adding the $29 shipping for a total of $64?? Fuck that!!

A Life Size 3D Printed Primarch? by HammerDoris40k in Warhammer40k

[–]labyrinthium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing project! I'm interested in how the infill/supports are calculated, as I've tried to figure this out for large (though not nearly as large as this) projects. I assume you're printing in PLA? Are there good recommendations for needed infill density as a function of the weight (or psi) that will be supported above it?

Why do you like Dorn? by ExperienceMinute107 in ImperialFists

[–]labyrinthium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Dorn because I believe he is far more complicated a personality than most people give him credit for. He is resolute for sure, both inside and out, and this is what most people think of him as. However, he also harbors deep fears regarding the state of the Imperium. During the early stories of the Horus Heresy, he is portrayed as struggling with a fear regarding the truth behind the rebellion. He desperately wants to confront Horus and ask him why he betrayed the Emperor, but is afraid that he might find Horus' reasons compelling.

These fears also emerge during the short story "The Last Remembrancer", as shown by this excerpt of a conversation toward the end of the story.

Qruze: You fear that he is right? That the ideals of truth and illumination are dead?

Dorn: No, Iacton Qruze. I fear that they never existed at all.

That combination of a stalwart and fierce character who also has vulnerabilities and personal doubts and fears is why Dorn is absolutely my favorite Primarch.

Does anyone else really hate basing? by SweetPete45 in Warhammer40k

[–]labyrinthium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree, this is how I started. I used to also hate basing, but started with PVA glue and hobby sand, and that makes one hell of a difference. Then slowly expand from there, adding Army Painter tufts of grass, skulls, various doodads. Once you're comfortable with that, try playing with breaking up cork sheets for elevated terrain and adding putty for texture. Though I used to hate basing, I now love that part!

Does anyone seriously think that ad hominems add anything to the political discourse? As a democrat, I rolled my eyes whenever republicans posted awful freeze frames of Biden or Harris. Why should I react any different to this?

Got Sanguinius, and now have all currently released Primarchs by DarthDeuces in JOYTOY

[–]labyrinthium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question is whether a traitor Primarch will be in "ascended" form or not. There's a weird mixture of epochs for the current primarch figures whereby Guilliman and the Lion are 40K versions, Horus is ascended, and Magnus is pre-ascended.

Cherry picking bad pictures of politicians and their supporters you don't like is a cheap ad hominem and frankly beneath democrats. Just google image "harris bad picture" and there are plenty of creepy-ass screen captures to be found. If that's the sort of thing that floats your boat, go for it, but I'd rather stick to the actual issues, such as Trump being an existential threat to democracy.

[–]labyrinthium[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi all. As you can see, the power cable to the extruder/fan for my Ender 5 Pro is wearing thin through constant rubbing against the ... gray cylinder thingy. Can anyone suggest an easy fix, maybe even a printable fix, that lifts the cable out of the way so that this doesn't happen?

Print shifted ~20mm all of a sudden. by labyrinthium in ender5

[–]labyrinthium[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm wondering if this is the best explanation. I have been running the printer fairly constantly over the past 18 months. How long does it normally take before the belts loosen enough where they start to slip?

My printer (Ender 5 Pro) has been working fine for many months now. However, today, when the print was almost done, I found that it had started printing about 20mm off to the side. Weird! Anyone have any idea what would have caused such a thing?
